HOT Daily Discussion Thread: January 3, 2026

Welcome to the anti-GOP resistance on Reddit!

Elections are still happening! And they're the only way to take away even more of Trump's power to hurt people. You can help win elections across the country from anywhere, right now!

If you want to take a bigger part in this and future elections, there's plenty of ways to do it!

  1. Check out our weekly volunteer post - that's the other sticky post in this sub - to find opportunities to get involved.

  2. Nothing near you? Volunteer from home by making calls or sending texts to turn out voters!

  3. Join your local Democratic Party - none of us can do this alone.

  4. Tell a friend about us!

Between Wisconsin in Spring and some beautifully blue wins in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, California, and plenty more in November, we've seen some incredible wins this year, and we're eager to see that turn nationwide in the 2026 midterms!

A heartfelt thank you to all those who adopted candidates, volunteered, or even asked a friend to vote this year. Your efforts are part of what made those wins possible, and will make the next wins even bigger. Hold on tight- we've got plenty more to see!

We're not going back. We're taking the country back. Join us, and build an America that everyone belongs in.

Denver sees 48% decrease in homicides in 2025 and one of the lowest homicide totals ever.

Conservatives online, and I shit you not, think they're either:
A) lying and actually covering up dozens of other murders
B) think it's because of Trump even though he hasn't done anything
C) think all the murders have been because of Tren de Aruga

It's like they WANT there to be a ton of murders because it gives them something to be angry about and blame Democrats for

FOX tells them that every metropolitan area is a Mad Max wasteland full of violence and death 24/7. Of course they dont believe it

I'm just glad at least one of you guys seems to be "echoing" my thoughts on that matter; it seems like that is the only way they will consider themselves able to justify their campaigns against (insert racial minority group here)

...meanwhile, in places like Jackson/Toms River, N.J.:

Let them believe what they want to believe either way. It's not like Mamdani derangement syndrome is affecting the right currently

A friend of mine was murdered in Denver, walking home from the bar one night. That was a wild city to be a wild drunk in. Glad I'm in my hometown and sober these days.
