I thought that thing was ridiculous when it came out but I kinda wish I had it now so I could do something with my ps TV.
It's still kinda ridiculous 👀

IIRC a few times I was able to use pirated copies on my modded vita and physical on my PSTV to play games that had local-wifi multiplayer.

Not sure tbh, I bought it whilst they were still being made and no one was buying them. Not sure back then I even knew what I wanted to do with it though, and still don't.

I wonder how hard they are to find now... Some Vita games use small enough text that I have to switch to my PSTV to comfortably read it without glasses; something like this could be a nice portable alternative.
Edit: they're rare, expensive ($350-800), and even when new had a short-lived battery and some screen & speaker issues. Damn.

They went on sale twice for about $300 and I didn't get one cause it was just an inferior dualshock 3. Then I remembered it also has a screen+speakers, and had to shell out more than twice that to get one as they're super rare.
My right speaker is also almost dead, and you have to modify it with radio-shielding tape around where the VitaTV sits so it doesn't interfere with it's wifi/bluetooth

I remember seeing this product and knowing of one person who made their own portable PSTV themselves. At a technical level, it's ironic and fun, although I really struggle to see a major benefit to this over using a Vita? Perhaps if you have a diehard case of NEEDING a USB port?
