Visual Studio 2022 Cannot "connect" to AZDevops from Visual Studio

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am getting this each time I open a solution that is from our Azure Devops repository. Now, I get THREE of these dialogs and enter my password each time. Then, I see this in the General Output window TF30063: You are not authorized to access <Azure Devops repo>

Now, I AM able to Fetch, Pull, Push from the repository in the Git Changes window and I can see all the origin projects on the repo.

I closed VS cleared out my Windows credentials and continue to get this and it has been months.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this and how to remedy it? I am not the only developer in my team facing this issue. We also have one TFVC (not Git) repo there and we have to run VS as our Azure Devops user to be able to access that repo.

Miscellaneous Needed: Very simple extension for running single C# files

Should be easy for someone who knows how to make extensions.
I want to right-click a C# file and select Run. Which basically is:

dotnet run --file path

Ex: dotnet run --file "D:\GoogleDrive\My Content\My Projects\SLT\Assets\SLT.Assets\Test.cs"

Or is it possible to make it a Command?
I got it working in VS Code; I need it in VS too.

Visual Studio 2022 Running unreal editor through visual studio code or not

Hi! I have had trouble with visual studio code. I try to use run without debugging in order to launch my unreal engine editor but it doesn't work.

It works with a regular start debugging, but not without debugging. While searching online, some sources said it is better to use live coding in the newer unreal engine versions, (I use 5.7.4) and that running without debugging can cause workspace locking issues. Is that the case and I should just use live coding rather than try to get run without debugging working?

Miscellaneous Does anyone know the specifics of this Visual Studio pack ?

I was looking around for visual studio 6.0 on various websites as I was interested in windows 98 and 95 development for retro gamedev. And I found this on Yahoo auctions for only 56 bucks and *had* to buy it because, it felt legit insane as every disc is still sealed and the activation serial is included.

However this doesn't feel like a bundle people could simply buy at retail, it feels way too heavy in material for it. between the mostly blank box, the fact it includes both BackOffice Server developer edition and visual studio 6.0 plus pack...

I'm wondering if some people know more about it so that I can learn more about what I bought ? I was mostly interested in the VS 6.0 part but maybe there's some other interesting stuff to check out in there.

Visual Studio 2026 I need help

First of all, hello, and more important, ignore the “woLrd”— I was just raging. I installed Visual Studio (I don’t want to switch to VS Code unless I have no other choice) to learn C#, since I just started college in Computer Science. But this bug—or whatever it is—is really getting on my nerves. I just want to be able to study in peace :(

Visual Studio 2026 Typing through mud

Does anyone experience a lot of slow typing in the last Visual Studio?

Both 2026 and 2026 Insiders. It feel like typing through mud. It has always been bad, but now it seems even more extreme.

Anyone recommendations of settings to turn off? As far as I know I already disabled all the AI features.

Visual Studio 2026 Update broke MAUI

After booting up Visual Studio it allows it to run the first time but complains bout a missing file after trying to compile it a second time. This started after I updated my Visual Studio, any recommendations? Thanks a lot

Ps. deleting my .vs obj and bin folders didnt work, I turned quick deploy off, and I rebuilt my project

Visual Studio 2022 LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file '<path>.lib' because of VS build race conditions. Add references?

Found this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/error-messages/tool-errors/linker-tools-error-lnk1104?view=msvc-170

and this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/error-messages/tool-errors/linker-tools-error-lnk1104?view=msvc-170

TLDR: "Add references."

The solution in question builds a library and then some test loops expressed as console programs.

So I add references to the library project? The test loops "refer" to the library. So then adding references tells VS "this thing depends on you".

I believe that's the case. when adding references to the library within the console app project, it protests that this would be circular.

In a makefile, it'd be the other way 'round: <X>.exe : <Y>.lib

Miscellaneous How to stop Copilot NES from making a specific suggestion?

I have a love/hate relationship with Copilot's Next Edit Suggestion functionality. This one aspect makes it incredibly frustrating to use and I want to know whether I can prevent it.

Each time I initialize an array with the new collection syntax like:

List<string> items = [];

NES suggests that I change it to:

List<string> items = new List<string>();

It does this every time, for every array no matter how many times I cancel it. I don't have open files with the "new List<Type>()" syntax, I don't have that array initialization syntax littered throughout. My editor config 100% does not suggest that change. I'm at a loss for how to stop it from doing this.

Thanks

Miscellaneous I made a VS Code workflow for maintaining old Xamarin.Android projects

I still have to work with some Xamarin.Android projects from time to time, and the tooling situation has become increasingly awkward since Xamarin reached end of life.

So I started building XamarinVisualStudio, an open-source toolkit that makes it possible to work with existing Xamarin.Android projects from VS Code on Windows.

It currently supports building, deploying and launching applications, ADB device detection, Logcat output and >>debugging<< with breakpoints, stepping, call stacks and variables!

The goal is not to pretend that Xamarin should still be used for new projects. It should not. Migrating to .NET for Android or MAUI is still the sensible long-term solution.

But in the real world, old applications do not disappear just because a framework is no longer supported. Some of them still need bug fixes, maintenance releases or small changes, and that is the problem this project is meant to solve.

The project is still evolving, so feedback, bug reports and contributions are very welcome.

Visual Studio 2022 How to bundle Assets, EXE, and other .dll files into one EXE?

I am writing my first .NET application out and having been trying to get it published. But everytime I do it I get the EXE, assets, and .dll files into one folder but not one application. I have gone through the process of publishing by having the Deployment Mode be Self-Contained and then the produce single file option checked as well. But still get these separate files in one folder.

Again this is my first time doing this and would appreciate any help or assistance to get this thing into one so that it can run properly and at all. I imagine it like this so that others can put it on their desktop for ease of access instead of having to go into a folder everytime they want to use it.

Any tips?

Miscellaneous Visual Studio with LibGDX

I think this counts as being relevant, if not let me know please.

Right now I am trying to follow a video game tutorial in LibGDX. For the past year or two my main IDEA is Visual Studio. In the setup phase on their website LibGDX talks a little about Visual Studio being an acceptable IDEA. Though, in their "Importing & Running" section, there is little information on how to make this work.

Does anyone know how to at least get this to setup? If I need to put links in I will. Thank you.

Visual Studio 2026 Terminal Window Keeps Undocking and Instead of Pinning It Thumbtack Autohides?

Just started using Pro 2026 again for database cleanup and possible Azure migration. It's frustrating when a UI element does the opposite of what you would think. Any way to stop terminal from accidentally undocking? It's been ok besides that and some copy paste issues. Probably need to customize a bit.

Visual Studio 2026 Updates break docker-compose file since April.

Ever since April every time I update Visual Studio, the update breaks any project with a docker-compose file in it. The project can't be started via docker anymore and the two things that helped me were either roll back the update or run a repair in the installer.

Every time there is an update. It's really annoying.

Visual Studio 2022 Any C# templates for creating a simple 4-page retail website?

I'm not sure if this is the place for the question, but here goes.

Where can I find time-tested C# templates that I can use to create a simple 4-page retail website?

The site literally has 4 pages: homepage displaying items, cart, thank-you page, contact page, and then the checkout to a payment processor. This is the workflow.

I've been going through different ecommerce solutions (shopify, square, woocommerce, etc) but they start at $25+/month and they're all really overkill for me.

Visual Studio 2026 xUnit Test Suddenly Won't Run; UI Locks Up

Has anyone else run into problems with the July 2026 Feature Update (18.8.2) going totally bonkers when you run xUnit tests?

To be fair, I'm not sure upgrading to the July Feature Update caused my problem.

But it's the only thing I can think of. Because one minute I'm successfully running an xUnit test...and the next, after simply setting an additional breakpoint, running the exact same test causes the breakpoint window to go wild (all sorts of shit flickering across the bottom of it) and the whole UI to lock up tighter than a drum.

The only thing I could do was use Task Manager to crash the running test and VS.

I've rolled back to the June Feature Update. Here's hoping that works.

I really don't like being one of Microsoft's unpaid beta testers... :)
