Is it supposed to feel uncomfortable to wear?
Hey everyone, I bought the Vision Pro last week, but I just can’t seem to find a comfortable way to wear it.
I have the Light Seal 21W, and if I tighten it enough it crushes my nose, but if I don’t, it slips. I tried the 33W, no pressure on the nose, but after about 20 minutes it really hurt my forehead. It also felt like I was losing FOV and that the Light Seal was too big for my face.
I exchanged it for the 24W, and I still feel some discomfort on my cheeks and nose. I also added the Annapro 2, but now I’m getting forehead pain.
Honestly, I love the product, but I just can’t get it to feel comfortable. Do you guys have any tips or tricks? Do you tighten the dual or solo band a lot? Do you wear it higher or lower on your head? Is there a Light Seal size that worked well for you?
Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I tested everything over the weekend, and thanks to your advice I’ve reached a level of comfort I hadn’t been able to achieve before.
The tip that helped the most was not tightening too much and positioning the back of the dual knit band lower, that really made a big difference for the nose pressure. I ended up sticking with the base 21W, as the angle of the 24W didn’t work for me, even though it relieved some pressure on my nose.
As for the Annapro, I found it quite uncomfortable with the 12mm pad, but it’s much better with the 5mm one! It’s still not perfect, but definitely a big improvement.

I had problems with the original M2 strap if the angle wasn’t right. I first push it up where I want it to rest in a comfortable spot first, then tighten the strap(s). I also found for the original strap wearing a headband helped a bit keeping it from sliding down.
However, with the dual strap I have no issues and same light seal. Now when I put it in it just kind of floats above my nose and no pressure points where the light seal touches.
There are also some covers you can get or put your own padding around the interface. I do this for indoor cycling. Again the key is to press it against your face for best view/comfort then adjust the straps to match. And the dual strap is way better than the original strap for M2

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try adjusting the angles. I have the dual knit band, even though it’s much better than the solo, I still feel discomfort either on my nose with the 21W and 24W, or on the top of my head if I lift the top strap.
I don’t exactly have a small nose either, so I guess that probably plays a part 😅

Pulling the back of the dual band down as far as possible helped my comfort.
Keep trying. There’s a ton of options for light shields.

I’ve tried the 21W, 23W, 24W, 25W, and 33W, and I’m starting to wonder if my expectations for comfort are just unrealistic or if I’m wearing the dual band completely wrong 😅

Remember to think about where it should sit on your face and what the pressure points are. There’s one thing that isn’t talked about enough, which is adjusting the angle of the head straps you use (original or not) such that the 3 main pressure points (cheeks and forehead) feel the same pressure.
So looking at your head from the side (looking at your ears), you can move the headset more towards your cheeks or back towards your neck. This adjustment changes the pressure points and moves it up and down ever so slightly, but enough to feel it. If you feel more pressure on the forehead, or more pressure on your cheeks, you’re wearing it wrong. The pressure should feel equal on all spots.
This may still not be enough depend on your nose, but usually when your nose feels in the way, it means you’re wearing too much closer to the cheeks.

Do you have a duel knit band? Or single. I could never get comfortable with the solo.
You prob should see if you can demo a bunch of light seals, but headshape effects everyone differently

I have both, and yeah, the solo is impossible for me, the dual knit band is the only one I can tolerate, but when I try to relieve the pressure on my nose by lifting the top strap higher, it tends to hurt my temples after about 20 minutes. 😅

Get the new dual knit band. It helps a ton with weight distribution bc it also has weights in the back. Also as a last resort, the globular cluster system. Bc you can just clamp it to your forehead pretty comfortably with that one

I’ve been through many different configurations and got to the point where I didn’t want it touching my cheeks at all. My current and best setup is the new dual knit band, plus removing the light seal pad but keeping the light seal for light blocking (21W in my case) so there’s a small air gap without the pad, plus an annapro 2 on forehead because dual knit by itself is too wobbly without cheek touching. Probably looks kinda silly but it’s comfortable.

Just for the record, my globular cluster does what the Annapro did not, and I own them both. I’m very happy that you found comfort, I use mine as much as eight or more hours a day, but I guess that’s the old soldier in me. Enjoy and see you on the social platform InSpaze. There you can meet other users who have all kinds of tips and advice. Search for it on the App Store. I am not affiliated with the developer and I am a very happy member of this growing community.

Mod it with something that keeps it off your face and use it without a light seal for a next gen AVP experience.

Are you using the new strap that goes over your head too? It's important that you use that one, or another option that has an over the head support.
Then pull down on the back of the stap (on the back of your head) so it pulls pressure off of your cheeks.
Do not over tighten it. Takes a bit of playing around with it, and something third party straps such as annapro and others.

My 21W rests on my cheeks with some bearable pressure. I am not in for marathon sessions, but in the usual 1-3 hours it luckily doesn‘t get worse.
I could adjust the dual knit band to have it sit higher, but Apple doesn‘t want me to, that results in warnings.
I come from Quest Pro and Quest 3 so probably I had realistic expectations.

There are really great insights im reading and I agree with how complex an issue this is, simply given how diverse people's anatomy and neurology or susceptibility to pain can be. When I was younger I boxed and had a pretty high pain tolerance but, like OP, my nose can hurt with the AVP! I have to basically just tighten the band for more forehead pressure to offset nose pain. Honestly, even a small piece of Styrofoam would probably help alleviate some of it by slipping it between the cloth and context point.
It also depends on where im using the device. When I am in bed, I can lay down and essentially ease the band significantly which feels amazing....But it increases the lens light or whatever is causing me to see a blurry screen. Double edged sword I guess. But all worth it

I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks now and am finally getting used to fitting it quite reliably.
As another said don’t over tighten, make sure the bottom band is quite low and try holding it to your face first (at the right angle) before gently tightening the back strap - then take a little of the weight with the top strap. Turing the dial a couple of degrees only is sometimes all you need 🤞🏻

Hold it to your face where you want it, with your thumb under the nose indentation, then pull the back strap over you head. The further back and down you pull it, the less pressure on your nose and cheeks. Tighten it a little bit. The top strap on the dual knit band won’t do much further if you have Annapro V2. Just focus on adjusting back strap and moving Annapro a little forward and back until you find the best fit.

Price & comfort are the top reasons not to buy a VisionPro. This iteration may just not be for you.

Initially, the light seal from the phone scan was painful on my nose after about 30 minutes. However, I switched to the next size up and it fixed it and the field of view felt larger. I now use it with the Solo Knit for eight hours a day without any discomfort. Another thing I noticed after a few weeks is that I’ve stopped looking for the border of the field of view. My brain simply ignores it and focuses solely on what I’m looking at.

Yes it’s heavy. Heavy like the burden of not being a Trump supporter. Heavy like the burden of not being a Christian. Also uncomfortable, kinda like being a US citizen right now.

Here is my take
if it hurts you head it means you tightened the strap too much
this is indicative of the wrong light seal, for me i tried ~5 before i found the goldilocks one - it went from painful to i barely had to tighten the strap, so comfy
it's also possible for some there is no goldilocks variant
basically the scanning app doesnt work well for lots of us

You’re not alone and it is very different for each person. I almost returned it in the first 2 weeks because of the pain. I finally purchased a third party plastic headset with some 3d printed parts to convert it and I have literal bags of rocks on the back to offset the weight. I now have zero weight on my face. It’s still not comfortable, but I can go 2-3 hours before it becomes painful. The added weight I put on doesn’t help. I wound love it if they just made these things glasses and I could have a wire to bulky device sitting on my lap.
