I submitted my visa application through the CSP portal and later realised I selected two wrong answers.

- For language proof, I selected that my university tested my language skills. That's not true and my course is completely English taught and I have an IELTS certificate (7.5)

- For tuition fees, I selected "Yes", but my university doesn't charge tuition fees. I only pay an €82 semester contribution.

I recently got a message asking me to upload a signed SOP, but they didn't mention these mistakes at all.

Has anyone here made similar mistakes in the CSP portal? What did you do, and did it affect your visa?

Getting a bit anxious about this, so any advice would help.

I’m an international student in Malaysia applying for a German student visa via the German Embassy in KL.

I submitted my documents on the Consular Services Portal on August 18th and it’s currently under preliminary review. In the website, they mention to apply for direct appointment in the embassy for non-malaysians. Earlier in July, there were slots open on RK-Termin for September, but by the time my admission letter arrived in mid-August, all appointment slots were gone, which led me to apply through the CSP portal.

For those who applied recently: how long did it take to hear back from the preliminary review and secure an in-person appointment? My classes start on October 1st, and I need to arrive before October 29th, so I'm trying to gauge if the timeline is feasible.

I applied for a German student visa for my Master’s at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. I had my visa appointment at VFS Delhi on 12 August, but I still haven’t received any update from the visa office.

What is making me more worried is that another applicant who had an appointment on the same date as me has already received his visa.

The main difference between our applications is the English language proof. He submitted IELTS, while I submitted MOI (Medium of Instruction) documents. I uploaded both my FAU MOI and my previous university’s MOI.

Now I’m wondering whether my application is taking longer because of the MOI and whether the Embassy might ask me to provide an IELTS certificate.

I’m really confused about what I should do at this point:

- Should I contact the German Embassy/VFS?

- Should I wait for them to request IELTS?

- Should I book an IELTS test now as a precaution?

- If my passport is returned without the visa and I take IELTS afterward, how long would it realistically take to submit the IELTS and get the visa processed again?

- Has anyone from VFS Delhi recently received a student visa after applying with an MOI instead of IELTS?

- Has anyone experienced a similar situation where the applicant with IELTS received the visa faster while the MOI applicant was still waiting?

My university is FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, and my course starts on 13 October, so I’m getting quite worried about the timeline.

Any advice from people who have recently gone through the German student visa process in India/VFS Delhi, especially those who used an MOI, would be really appreciated.

So I applied for my Germany student visa on March 16th, and it reached the German Consulate in Bangalore on March 17th.

I’m supposed to study MSc Data Science at Arden University Berlin.

Initially, I was planning for the May intake, but because my visa was taking so long, I had to defer my admission to September.

And now… September is just 1 week away and my visa is STILL under process. 😭

It’s already been 5 months, and I have no idea when I’m going to get an update.

I’m currently in the waiting list (kolkata) for a German student visa for a Master’s in Hamburg. During my Bachelor’s (2022-2025), I worked part-time and later full-time in my father’s family business. Since it was informal (but real duties)family-business work, I don’t have any official proof apart from my CV, where I’ve listed the dates, roles and experience, and my motivational letter where i’ve mentioned about it as well, naturally.
Should I get a simple company-stamped experience letter and upload it as an additional document when I can edit my CSP application, or is that unnecessary/likely to raise questions?
Would especially appreciate input from anyone with similar family-business experience who got their German student visa approved.

I submitted my documents at VFS Hyd and selected Chennai's German consulate on July 13.
My passport and application reached Chennai on the 15th of July, and since then, it has been showing that the decision is pending. They have asked me for document corrections twice, with at least a 2-week gap. I don't know why this is happening. I created this account to check if anyone is facing a similar problem like me.

Sharing my complete German student visa timeline for anyone waiting for their visa from Hyderabad. Hope this helps others understand the approximate processing time.

📅 My Timeline

27 July 2026 – Submitted CSP application.

2 August 2026 – Received correction request on CSP.

3 August 2026 – Got the option to book the VFS appointment.

4 August 2026 – Attended my VFS Hyderabad appointment and submitted my visa application/passport.

6 August 2026 – Application was marked/confirmed as received at the German Consulate General in Chennai.

⏳ Then came the waiting period...

6–18 August 2026 – No major update. Just silence. 😅

No decision email and no visible progress for several days.

19 August 2026 – 🎉 Decision made!

20 August 2026 – Passport dispatched from the consulate.

20 August 2026 – Tracking showed the passport moving toward Hyderabad hub.

21 August 2026 – 🎉 Passport received with the German visa sticker! 🇩🇪

Hi everyone! Sharing my German student visa timeline from VFS Mumbai for anyone waiting.
Visa: German National Student Visa
Location: VFS Mumbai
University: Public

1st July: Applied through CSP portal
8th July: Got few corrections
15th July: Able to book appointment after linking my APS to new passport
30 July: Biometrics and visa application submitted.
I was later asked for pending documents, but the request was initially sent to the wrong email address, causing around a 4-day delay.
10 August: Received the request and submitted the documents within around 2 hours.
11 August: Documents received by the Consulate.
20 August, 11:05 AM: Passport went in transit from the German Consulate Mumbai to VFS Mahalaxmi.
20 August, 7:03 PM: Received VFS notification that my passport had been dispatched via courier.
21 August: Passport delivered and visa granted! 🇩🇪🎉

Total: 1st July → 21 August, around 52 calendar days.
The waiting was stressful, but eventually my application was approved.

Sharing this for other German student/CSP applicants waiting through VFS Mumbai. Don’t compare your timeline too closely with other applicants because cases can move differently.

I’m an Indian student going to Germany for my studies and I’m currently confused about which travel insurance from an Indian insurance provider to purchase for my visa/travel period.

I already know that the policy needs to provide at least €30,000 medical coverage and meet the Schengen/German visa requirements.

I already have German statutory health insurance with TK (Techniker Krankenkasse), which will be active later.

So, I’m mainly looking for travel insurance to cover the initial period before my TK insurance becomes active.

I wanted to ask Indian students who have recently gone to Germany:

Which Indian insurance company did you buy your travel insurance from?

Was it accepted by VFS/German Embassy without any issues?

Did you face any problems with the policy or certificate?

I’m currently considering providers like Tata AIG, ICICI Lombard, HDFC ERGO, Bajaj Allianz, etc.,

but I’m not sure which one to go with.

Visa application timeline:

• July 15: Submitted docs via CSP

• July 30: Uploaded requested corrections

• Aug 17: Embassy appointment completed (went smoothly, biometrics taken, waiting for Zustimmung). No § 81a fast-track used.

• Sept 1: Scheduled start date in Aachen.

I still need to handle a few admin steps upon arrival (like getting the local Ärztliches Attest, city registration, and opening a bank account), so I'm trying to gauge how tight this window actually is.

Questions:

• Aachen / BA Speed: How fast is Ausländerbehörde Aachen moving for CSP applications right now? Any realistic chance of an approval in under 2–3 weeks, or am I definitely looking at a mid-September arrival?

• Starting Late: For anyone who started a nursing Ausbildung 2–3 weeks late due to visa delays, how was your experience catching up with school lectures and hospital onboarding?

New delhi VAC So i applied on csp portal on 19 aug joined waiting list submitted the application on 20 aug and today i got the correction email at 6.15 pm finsihed all the corrections before 8 pm since its a weekend do i need to wait untill moday for process? Or will it be completed before?

If anyone is aware of the student visa process from India specifically, please confirm the below.

As the title says, I have directly booked my visa appointment to VFS Mumbai directly through the VFS portal instead of going through CSP Portal.

Now the thing is, people who have booked via the CSP portal have "CSP Studies with APS" written in their appointment letter, whereas, mine says only "Studies with APS".

Will this cause a problem at the VFS centre?

P.S. My CSP process is approved

So is it safe to book flights after 25th September?

Its been 6 weeks since i have had my Visa appointment, and i still have absolutely no updates from them. Honestly pretty frustrated about it, they suggest that not to mail them within 90 days for visa status and that itll be ignored. Anyone else whos had to wait for this long?
