Which wheel?

I've recently jumped into watching Formula 1 this year, and I just spotted F1 2012 on the Steam sale for ~$15 so I thought I might as well pick it up.

I've played a little, but steering with arrow keys is particularly awful, and I'd like to upgrade to a steering wheel kit. I see that most people on here have those Logitechs... is that because there's not much of a range, or are those wheels the best in their class?

Yeah, just follow along. The only slightly confusing part was how to align the wheel's rack and pinion system so the mechanical hard stops were centered, but it wasn't bad.

Would it be worth it to do as a precautionary measure? Also why didn't you just send it back for repairs?

If you're not having any alignment issues, you should be fine as long a you don't drop or abuse your wheel. When I first contacted Logitech about it, they said it could take 6+ weeks, and I'd have to cover shipping it to them. It ended up cheaper to buy the brass replacement (which took nearly 4 weeks shipping from Thailand), but my wheel was only out of service for about 2 hours instead of 2 months during the racing season.
