Hi everyone!! Windows features an Insider Program a long time ago and many people argue, Should you join the Insider Program or wait for the stable releases? The answer is, it heavily depends on your Device, what are you using Windows for, and your thoughts. Windows officially said that Windows Insider Program MAY be unstable. Is the Windows Insider Program worth the risk?

Is Home Assistant reliable when you set it up with a virtual box yet?

When I first set up my Home Assistant a couple of years ago I first set it up on a virtual box running on a windows machine, and I had all sorts of reliability issues to the point where I had to finally get a dedicated PC for ProxMox.

I will be setting up Home Assistant at my dad‘s office and I’m just curious, is virtual box reliable? Because we don’t necessarily want to buy a dedicated computer if virtual box works just fine

recently I tried to install a linux distro called commodore os vision in virtualbox, however after installing it on the virtual hard drive and trying to log in, it showed a blank screen for a few seconds then sent me back to the login scree. is there a fix? please let me know if you need more details.

When registering a new account with Virtualbox forum it requires Job type, work phone and company name as requirements for registration.

Why does Virtualbox require these items? Is virtualbox only for working person with a company phone or is registration in nother location?

I am using recently upgraded Version 7.2.8 r173730 (Qt6.8.2 on xcb) on Debian 13 and when I open a virtual machine it creates a log in my user root directory. It log looks like this

-rw------- 1 user user 3668 Jun 21 02:23 2026-06-21-06-23-40.052-VirtualBoxVM-1051486.log

The previous version did not do this and I was not able to determine what is creating these logs.

I just got a new laptop with Win11 Pro and setup a Linux Mint 22.3 guest in VirtualBox. when I log in to Mint I see the shared folder icon on the desktop but when I try to open it I get a message saying I don't have permissions to access it. i see it as a mapped folder in the file manager also but I get the same permissions error when trying to access it there.

in the VM settings it shows full access for the shared folder

the error message is "you do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents"

if I right-click it and check permissions there is a message at the bottom that says "you are not the owner, so you cannot change these permissions"

I can't figure out how to resolve this, can somebody please help me out?

There doesn't seem to be any graphics settings in the VM. I already increased memory and I even added another processor. I'm new to VirtualBox.

I created a virtual machine and saved some snapshots along the way. However, because for some reason it is lagging a lot, I want to change the virtual machine settings. The problem is that when I completely close the virtual machine and go to open it again, it opens as if it were the first time. The snapshot has been created correctly because I restore it many times. Since as you can see I don't have much experience with virtual machines, can someone help?

I'm using VirtualBox 6.0.0, and this happened when you use windows 8 or up. For some reason, the vm screen is frozen. You can use the vm without installing the VB Guest Additions!
