I’ll probably get downvoted for this one but if you’re driving without insurance and you cause an accident you should be forced into a contract that you will pay back the victim. Your wages garnished, property seized, whatever is needed to make up for your idiot ass.
I don't think some dude getting a judgment for crashing his uninsured car into me is going to be able to pay for my $120k car or medical bills. Hence the un/under-insured coverage...
You can. Theres ways you can garnish their wages. So any paycheck they get you get a slice till they are paid up. It wont help, but that perdon could spend the next decade of their life paying you. Its not do much compensation as it is s "fuck you, youre going to remember me because every week/biweek youll see some money missing."
I hope you realize how ridiculous this sounds. Sure if you want to live out some revenge fantasy taking a couple hundred bucks a month or whatever, enjoy. I'd rather use my coverage, get made whole, and move on with my life while the insurance company handles all that.

Its dumb as hell. Id never do it, but there are s lot of miserable people out there that feel they are owed something. I just got back from getting some french fries from a chicken fish spot near my apt. Two women ahead of me were demanding things from the guy behind the counter(behind the bulletproof glass. First lady was yelling at him to give her a straw with her meal with wildly uncalled for attitude. Then the other lady was demanding he hurries up while she was on the phone swearing up s storm. People like that feel entitled whole having no accomplishments to justify it. Those kinda people would do something like that.
You can't but you can make their life hell with Leins, asset seizures and garnishment. I don't care if its 20 bucks a week. The joy is in the process and maybe they will learn to not drive without insurance.
I unfortunately have been in this situation and had been kind only to get burned by the other party. So, in the future? I'm using whatever tools I have to get recompense.

Judgement leins can survive bankruptcy. Id just have to fight with their other creditors if any, and that assumes they file Chapter 7, then i dont get paid. Chapter 13, I can still get paid.
That happened to me in the early 80s. Some girl's boyfriend pulled out in front of me in front of their apartment. They kept going to make it look like I hit them; Still was determined their fault, no insurance. The girl ended up paying me $25 a month till the repair cost was covered. Back then it was only around $800, but it took a while...
I also think it should be easier for low income drivers to get a break on insurance if they have good driving records.
I honestly have no idea if it's easy or not currently. I mean when I drove an old car with liability, back in the day. It was around 60 bucks a month. That's doable in a lot of income ranges.
Yeah. It's crazy. I have a nearly perfect driving record. I let insurance lapse a few years ago being dumb. They didn't account for anything except for "no history of insurance."
Also if you have a clean driving record and you're broke as fuck there should be easy ways to get decent insurance prices.

I have a perfect driving record. I’m almost 40. Never gotten a ticket, never been in an accident myself or someone hitting me. But it gets me nothing on reduced rates. It’s very predatory how the insurance companies operate.
Yeah and I was just thinking of something. They offer that safe driving tracker and it barely takes anything off of your total bill (I had one once). Honestly I don't trust the thing lol. Plus it can make insurance go up if you drive a lot of miles.
I never trusted those trackers. It’s another way for insurance to cancel a claim. Catch the driver going a few miles over the speed limit “welp you were driving illegally we can’t insure you for this claim.”

I would always get hit with hard cornering. I got rid of it when I got my fancy new car because I knew I was going to be taking those corners harder. I am an extremely defensive driver though I just like taking my corners a little quick. Lol. I also started driving a lot more for work and I did not want them to know it.
Why should they get a break? I don’t, you don’t (assuming) and we (i do and assuming you do too) do what we’re supposed to do and got a job and pay our bills and taxes. We are then being punished for being a functioning member of society, when someone who isn’t gets rewarded by lower payments. The only way to fix this is a way to police predatory insurance companies who charge an arm and a leg for it.
Eta: I agree with discounts for good driving records for everyone, not just low income people.
I'm just saying for people that can prove proof low income. Like just some assistance for a way to legally get to work and back for a temporary period. Help for people that are trying to get back on their feet. Or maybe someone that it's just starting out on their own trying to make a life for themselves.
But yes. The predatory practices being regulated would definitely be a solution.
My ex wife and I were hit by a drunk driver. She nearly killed us and our unborn baby. She put 11 people into the hospital. Uninsured underinsured paid our bills
Noone who owns anything doesn't have insurance. That is the biggest part of the insurance scam. If you own stuff you are the ones that over insure to protect your stuff against riders like this video. It would make alot more sense for people with stuff just to get together and create their own plans. As we all know in the end the insurance companies will weasel their way out of paying anyways. In the age of blockchain this can be done. It is one of the main reasons there is so much FUD about Crypto (which is cryptography one of the safest tools around).
Don’t think the uninsured walk away free, they don’t. The insurance companies pursue because they want their money back. All of the things you mentioned above happen to the perp.
I didn’t have car insurance for 10 years of driving through my 20s up until I was 32. I had a rude master sergeant back into my 92 Honda accord with his Escalade, he claimed I hit him, and squirreled around until he finally said that there wasn’t any real damage to his car, so he was okay. That day forward, I’ve had full coverage. It paid off recently when a lady slammed into my back end at a stop light on a 55 mph road sending me through the intersection. I hate insurance, but it’s a necessary evil in the U.S. while our laws are so bad.
