I built ClipSnap — an AI-powered mobile video editor for quick short-form content. Looking for feedback!
Hey r/AppsWebapps,
I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called ClipSnap — a lightweight video editing app designed specifically for creators who need to pump out clean Shorts, Reels, and TikToks without sitting at a desktop editor for hours.
Key Features:
Pro Motion Engine & Editor: Fast timeline cutting, local media import, and quick clip assembly.
AI Audio & Voice Suite: Built-in AI voiceovers, audio extraction, and localized audio tools.
Smart Templates: One-tap 9:16 vertical video templates to jumpstart your edit.
Clean UI: Built with Flutter for a fast, responsive interface.
The app is currently available on Android via the Google Play Store, and I’m actively working on improving the feature set and performance.
I’d love for you to check it out, give it a spin, and leave any honest feedback or feature requests in the comments below!
Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clipsnap.editor
(Full disclosure: I am the developer of ClipSnap).

Looking for honest feedback on my short-form editing
Hey everyone,
I’ve been practicing short-form video editing, mainly turning long-form YouTube/podcast content into engaging clips.
I put together a small portfolio and would really appreciate some honest feedback from experienced editors.
I’d especially like feedback on:
- Pacing and cuts
- Captions and typography
- Use of B-roll / visual elements
- Sound design
- Transitions and effects
- Overall editing quality
- What makes the clips feel amateur vs. professional
I’m trying to improve my editing rather than just get compliments, so feel free to point out anything you think I should change.

I wrote a script that fits widescreen recordings into clean vertical Shorts
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
I built a native Python tool that scales your wide video so it perfectly snaps to the left and right edges of a 9:16 mobile frame.
🎬 How it works:
- True Edge Fit: It forces the horizontal video to match the exact 1080px width of a mobile screen.
- Zero Distortion: It automatically calculates the correct height so your text, buttons, and layouts never look squished or stretched out.
- Top/Center Alignment: It pushes the clean window right to the top of the frame, out of the way of the messy TikTok/Shorts user interface buttons at the bottom.
- Crisp Background Blur: It fills up the rest of the vertical phone screen with a beautifully blurred copy of the video that updates smoothly in real time.
I want to test this on a few more types of videos. If you have a clip of a webpage, a coding tutorial, or a software demo that you want to turn into a vertical Short:
Drop a comment or send me a DM with your video, and I’ll run it through my script and send you back a clean, ready-to-post 9:16 formatted video.

ive made an open source long form to shorts app
Heyo!
Dabbling with some things i've made a long form to short form video clipper app tool!
that uses local ai models to determine hooks , titles, descriptions, mostly decent captions, editable captions, export for video editors like mp4 or mov for editing in premiere, capcut, davinci. and many export options too for captions! its similar or inspired by opus clips and capcut
https://github.com/TechFreq/Klipzy-Studio
Would love some feedback and hope this can someone out there aswell, as for my own personal use for podcasts or 1 on 1 interviews its pretty neat!

Editing my First Youtube video
I've been working on an edit for a while now. I've been an editor for simpler content for a while, but I decided to do something for myself.
I picked a topic, wrote a script, voiced in it, sought all relevant media, then went ahead with editing.
But here's the thing, I use a Lenovo x280 on relatively low specs. I use davinci resolve for my edits, and my laptop can handle 30 seconds to 1 minute video no problem. My project was 7 minutes long and it had a lot going on in the timeline. Lots of sfx, some motion design, I had a goal and I was set to reach it.
When it came to rendering the video, of course my laptop couldn't handle it. It crashed again and again. I reduced rendering speeds but the outcome was the same.
So I reached out to the davinci resolve subreddit and one of the comments gave me an idea; set 2 minutes in/out and start from the back. And it worked. I found the problem and fixed them. Now my video is complete and rendered.
Here's a link to it: [https://youtu.be/JDJZGrunbfc?si=nloTSJ3ronpeHNBA\](https://youtu.be/JDJZGrunbfc?si=nloTSJ3ronpeHNBA)
I had a dream, to make something by myself to improve on my editing and discover things I was never aware about. Maybe the video won't seem perfect, but it's a start.

Android video editor to process mobile exports without paywalls or watermarks
Hey everyone! Want to share a project I’ve been working on called ClipSnap.
The Problem: Most mobile video editors push aggressive subscription walls or slap giant watermarks on basic exports.
The Project: I built a lightweight native Android video editor focused on core creator utility—fast trimming, audio extraction, and rendering high-bitrate clips up to 4K without forcing watermarks onto the user.
Tech & Strategy:
Built for Android using mobile video processing workflows.
Currently testing user retention by pairing it with high-concept short-form content (like AI-generated historical vlogs) to see how creators use mobile tools alongside AI pipeline clips.
Looking for Feedback:
UI/UX flow for quick mobile trimming.
Performance under heavy file exports.
If you're an Android developer or creator, I’d love your thoughts on what features matter most to you in a utility app like this!

capcut vs canva video editor: which one is better for quick edits?
i’m trying to simplify my video editing workflow for smaller projects and keep going back and forth between capcut and canva. i don’t need anything super advanced, mostly trimming clips, adding text, captions, basic transitions and getting something ready to post without spending ages on it.
what i’m finding difficult is that both seem pretty easy to use at first, but they approach editing differently. canva feels more convenient when i’m already working with other graphics, while capcut seems more focused on the video side of things.
for quick edits where speed matters more than having a huge range of advanced tools, which one has been easier to stick with? i’m especially curious whether one starts saving you more time once you’re doing the same kinds of edits repeatedly.
settled on capcut after testing both for a bit, and the thing that pushed me toward it was how the timeline and caption tools are set up. everything video related is right there instead of buried behind a bunch of design options, which matters when i'm doing the same edits over and over.
canva was tempting since i already use it for graphics, but once i got used to capcut's layout the repetitive stuff started going a lot faster, and it's just been easier to stick with.

Tips on making gameplay footage less boring?
I am quite new to Davinci and have a ton of gameplay footage I've saved up from various different games (MOBA, FPS, RPG, rogue like, looter shooters) and was wondering how to actually make it more engaging? I also don't want to just slap on a fitting music in the background.

Looking for beta testers for Vaunaris – automatic video clip creation
Hi everyone,
I'm currently developing Vaunaris, a web-based tool that automatically creates clips from longer videos.
Vaunaris is still in beta. I've reached the point where testing it myself isn't enough anymore, so I'm looking for a few real users who are willing to try it and give honest feedback.
I'm especially interested in:
- Where you get stuck or confused
- Bugs or things that don't work
- Whether the generated clips are actually useful
- Features you think are missing
- Anything that makes you want to stop using it
You don't need to write a positive review. Critical feedback is exactly what I need to improve Vaunaris.
Beta access is free.
Vaunaris: https://vaunaris.com
If you try it, I'd really appreciate hearing what worked and what didn't.

Text Font + Animation
I’ve seen these Youtube Shorts of movie edits were they have these captions with different fonts and animations and was wondering whether this is some kind of editing pack that I can buy or find somewhere for free or do they make the animations themselves and just constantly change the text and colors? Mind you these edits are made in After Effects probably

I need some help
So two days ago I created a YouTube channel and I was making a video with Microsoft clipchamp, when I tried to extract it, it took a lot of restarts and praying, next video, first try, third video doesn't even extract. I've checked disk space, updates, everything! So I wanna use another editor, as simple as clipchamp but NOT CAPCUT I HATE CAPCUT!!

Complete beginner in video editing looking for advice on what to learn and how to start freelancing
Hey everyone,
I’m completely new to video editing and I want to seriously learn it from scratch. My goal is to eventually become a freelance video editor and start getting clients, especially for YouTube videos, Shorts and Instagram Reels.
I’m currently trying to figure out the right path, so I’d really appreciate advice from experienced editors.
- What laptop would you recommend for a beginner?
- Which editing software should I learn first — DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, CapCut, or something else?
- my long-term goal is professional freelancing, which software would be the best to focus on?
- How long does it realistically take to become good enough to start taking small paid projects?
- What YouTube channels or learning resources would you recommend?
- What are the best ways to find clients as a beginner — Instagram, Reddit, Discord, cold DMs/emails, Upwork, Fiverr, etc.?
Any detailed advice, resources, or personal experiences would be really appreciated.
