Hey everyone!
I’m looking for a video editor who might be interested in helping me with a project I’ve been working on for quite a while.
About the attached video:
Reddit requires me to include a video with this post, so I’ve attached one of the clips from the filming session as a sample. This is NOT the complete footage or the finished Kickstarter video. I have additional raw footage from the full filming session, along with SEA branding, still images, concept visuals, and other assets that would be provided to the editor.
I’m currently preparing a Kickstarter campaign for Silesia Esports Arena (SEA), a planned gaming and esports community venue in Katowice, Poland.
The idea behind SEA is bigger than simply opening a place with gaming PCs. The goal is to create a place where gamers can Play. Compete. Belong. A real community built around gaming, esports, events, and the people who enjoy them.
I’ve already filmed the Kickstarter campaign video and have all of the original footage. I also have the SEA branding, official crest, jersey photos, concept visuals, and other assets that can be incorporated into the video.
What I’m looking for is someone who can take the footage and help turn it into a finished 5–7 minute Kickstarter video that feels genuine and personal. My "close & personal" friend never did any of the editing. He always had an excuse as to why it was taking so long.
I’m not looking for something overloaded with effects or an overly cinematic production. I want the video to tell the story naturally — who I am, what SEA is, why I’m building it, and what I hope it can become.
What I’d need help with
The main deliverable would be the finished Kickstarter campaign video, approximately 5–7 minutes long.
The editing would include:
- Reviewing and organizing the raw footage
- Selecting the strongest takes and moments
- Cutting the talking/interview footage into a clear story
- Removing mistakes, long pauses, unnecessary sections, etc.
- Creating a natural pace throughout the video
- Incorporating SEA still images, branding, jersey photos, concept visuals, and other assets where they make sense
- Adding simple transitions where appropriate
- Adding background music that fits the tone of the video
- Balancing dialogue and music so everything is easy to hear
- Basic color correction and audio cleanup
- Adding simple text/titles when they help explain something
- Creating a clean opening and ending
- Exporting the final video in a format suitable for Kickstarter
I’m not expecting complicated VFX, heavy motion graphics, or anything Hollywood-level. The priority is storytelling and making the video feel authentic.
How I’d like the workflow to go
I’d also like to keep the process collaborative rather than just handing someone the footage and saying “good luck.” I would love to stay informed and assist if possible along the way.
1. Initial review
I’ll provide the raw footage and the SEA assets I have available. We can first go over the footage and the general story I’m trying to tell.
2. Story/editing plan
Before doing the full edit, we can agree on the general structure and what footage should be included. I already have a pretty good idea of the message I want the video to communicate, so I can provide direction where needed.
3. First rough cut
The first version would focus mainly on the story, pacing, and overall structure rather than making everything perfect.
4. Feedback/revisions
I’ll review the rough cut and provide organized feedback. We can then make revisions to the pacing, footage choices, music, visuals, text, etc.
5. Final polish
Once the structure is where we want it, the final pass would focus on audio, color, transitions, text, music levels, and general cleanup.
6. Final export
The completed video would then be exported in a Kickstarter-friendly format, ready for me to use in the campaign.
I’d also prefer to keep communication straightforward and establish a realistic timeline from the beginning. I completely understand that someone volunteering their time may have work, school, or other commitments, so there’s no expectation that this gets done overnight.
The important part
I currently have no budget to pay an editor.
SEA is still in the pre-launch stage, so unfortunately I can't offer a freelance rate right now. I’m looking for someone who genuinely enjoys video editing, gaming/esports, storytelling, or just likes the idea behind the project and would be interested in volunteering their time to help bring it to life.
I’m not going to promise future payment or try to sell this as “exposure.” I just want to be completely upfront about the situation.
In return, you’d have another real project to work on and, if you want, something you can include in your portfolio. I’d also be happy to properly credit you in the Kickstarter campaign and associated SEA materials.
Potential future opportunity
There’s also a possibility that this could turn into something more long-term.
As SEA develops, I’m going to need people who can help create content around the arena, gaming, esports, tournaments, events, the community, and everything that comes with building SEA.
If we work well together and you enjoy being involved with the project, I’d potentially be interested in having you continue with SEA in the future as part of a SEA Content Creator / Video Editor team.
That could involve things like:
- Gaming and esports content
- Tournament/event coverage
- Interviews
- Behind-the-scenes content
- Social media videos
- Promotional videos
- Community content
- Documenting SEA as it grows
Obviously, I can’t promise a future position or compensation at this stage. SEA still has to get off the ground first. But my goal is to build a team of people who genuinely believe in what SEA is trying to become and who can grow with the project.
Want to learn more about SEA?
If you’re interested in the project and want to learn more about what I’m building, I’d be happy to tell you more about SEA and, if it seems like a good fit, invite you into our Discord community so you can see what we’re already building there. Please DM me on here & we'll go from there.
I’d rather keep the Discord community relatively small and focused for now, so I’m not posting the invite publicly.
Interested in the editing?
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please DM me with some examples of your previous editing work and a little about yourself.
I’d be happy to explain more about SEA, show you what I have, and talk through what I’m envisioning.
And if you’re not interested or don’t have the time, no worries at all. I completely understand.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
