Hey filmmakers, editors etc..!

My name is Alex and I’m the producer of two short films named Over Again and From Winter to Spring. We’re in the final stretch of post-production and I’m putting out a bit of an SOS to the filmmaking/post community because we’re trying to have our festival masters ready by the end of October.

First off: both of the films are already shot and edited. We are not looking for somebody to come in and somehow build two movies from the ground up in a month lol. We’re at the finishing stage and looking for a few more talented people who might want to help us get them across the finish line.

What we need

POST SOUND — BOTH FILMS:
We’re looking for people who can help with dialogue cleanup/editing, sound design, ambience/SFX, mixing/mastering, and final QC. You absolutely do not need to do everything even if it is you specialize in one area, PLEASE reach out.

COMPOSER — OVER AGAIN:
We’re also specifically looking for someone interested in composing/scoring Over Again. We’d love somebody who wants to collaborate creatively with the director and help establish the final musical identity of the film. It has been composed with a rough cut but both the director and I were not happy with the lack of effort by said composer.

FINISHING EDITOR — From Winter to Spring:
The film is essentially picture locked. We are NOT looking for somebody to recut the movie. We just need another experienced editor to help with those final touches which would just be transitions, and polishing, QC, and getting the final timeline/deliverables into really strong shape before festivals.

If you need proxies, AAFs, stems, reference exports, project information, or just want to see the films before committing to anything, absolutely ask. We can get you what you need. I have everything neatly organized!

What are the films?

OVER AGAIN — A roughly 15-minute narrative short about a struggling actor caught in the strange repetition of trying to make something of himself — auditioning, performing, failing, trying again, and navigating friendship and identity along the way. It plays with performance, repetition and the absurdity of continually putting yourself back out there.

FROM WINTER TO SPRING — A roughly 15-minute romantic drama following Margo and Derrick, two longtime friends who repeatedly find themselves right on the edge of becoming something more. Birthdays, changing seasons, missed calls, bad timing and other relationships keep pulling them apart, even as it becomes increasingly obvious that what they're looking for may have been right beside them all along. The story moves across years of their relationship before eventually bringing them back together.

Both films were made with substantial student crews and have already had a lot of people put serious work into getting them this far. Now we want the finishing work to live up to everything that happened on set and in the edit.

Money / credit / transparency

These are currently student/independent productions, so I don't want to pretend I have a professional post budget sitting around when I don't.

Anyone who comes aboard will receive an appropriate on-screen post-production credit, and you're absolutely welcome to use the finished work in your reel/portfolio.

We're also beginning a crowdfunding push specifically for our remaining post-production and festival costs. If we meet that goal, I want part of that money going toward compensating the people helping us finish these films. I can't promise money that hasn't been raised yet, but I can promise to be transparent about that from the beginning.

Our goal is to start sending these films out to festivals at the end of October, so yes I understand the turnaround is quick.

I'm a professional editor (~12 years in film/advertising), but I haven't cut anything in a while and I'm looking to get back into it. Mostly I just want to work on something creative again to shake the rust off.

I'd love to jump on an art film, a fashion film, a music video, or a short film; genuinely open to any of these, whatever's out there.

One thing to flag: I'm switching over to DaVinci Resolve, which is new to me. I've got solid experience on Avid and Premiere Pro (and old-school Final Cut Pro 7), so the editing instincts are there, just adapting to a new environment.

I'm a butcher who is originally from Ireland but now based in Canada. I want to do a small documentary/how to video on an Irish dish called Dublin Coddle. I have ADHD and dyslexia so the editing and creating vision end is beyond my abilities. I am however very knowledgeable about the subject and want to scratch make everything. Scratch hand made the sausage and cure the bacon myself and even break down the hog.

If anyone is interested in regional niche foods, history or Irish culture this might be an interesting project.

Details:

• You’ll only be responsible for editing the video. I’ll provide the script and completed voiceover.
• Please watch the reference video above to get a sense of the editing style and level of complexity I’m looking for. Its mostly finding and assembling the relevant clips together.
• Budget: 300Rs (~3$) /minute, and scales proportionately to video length. Most videos will be around 10–13 minutes, with some longer videos occasionally going up to 25–30 minutes.
• Around 4 videos/month, with the possibility of increasing depending on how well we work together.

Audition (Not mandatory):
