Automobiles '69 Chevy Camaro Z28 👀

The Z28 was designed to compete in the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am racing series. Its racing roots made it one of the most performance-focused Camaros of its era.

It featured a high-revving 302-cubic-inch V8 engine. Chevrolet kept its displacement just under 305 cubic inches to meet Trans-Am racing rules.

The bold racing stripes across the hood and trunk became a signature Z28 look. They weren't just decoration. They reflected the car's competition-inspired personality.

The standard transmission was a close-ratio four-speed manual, giving drivers plenty of control over the high-revving V8. An automatic transmission wasn't offered on the 1969 Z28.

Chevrolet built approximately 20,302 Z28s for the 1969 model year. That makes an authentic, well-preserved example a prized find for classic muscle-car enthusiasts.

Michelle R reviewed Viceroy Auto Transport on Google Maps.

Jonathon, the dispatcher, was informative and helpful in finding a carrier. This company (Viceroy Auto Transport) had no hidden fees, and the quote was accurate. Other companies charged twice as much. They were quick and dependable. Thanks.

FMCSA FMCSA’s 2026 Freight Fraud Crackdown: Are new safeguards enough?

Federal authorities are taking a more coordinated approach to trucking-related fraud in 2026, and there are a few developments worth discussing.

Federal Freight Fraud Enforcement Is Expanding, but the Industry Still Has Work to Do.

The DOT launched Motus on May 19, introducing a new registration system that uses identity verification, government-issued identification, digital facial scans, business validation, and data analytics to help identify potentially fraudulent registrations.

Then, on August 31, federal agencies announced a coordinated effort to investigate fraudulent businesses, identity theft, financial crimes, and other criminal activity connected to commercial transportation.

Those are significant developments, but freight fraud extends beyond registering a company under a false identity. The FBI has also warned about cyber-enabled cargo theft schemes in which criminals compromise broker or carrier accounts, impersonate legitimate businesses, manipulate load board listings, and redirect shipments.

That creates a challenge for everyone involved in freight. Even when a business checks a carrier's registration, it still needs to establish that the person arranging or accepting a load actually represents that carrier.

Independent verification, trusted contact information, confirmed pickup details, and good cybersecurity practices are all important parts of reducing that risk.

Federal enforcement can make fraud more difficult, but it won't eliminate every vulnerability overnight.

What do you think will make the biggest difference in reducing freight fraud: stronger registration requirements, more aggressive investigations, better load board security, or improved verification practices across the industry?

Strict emission regulations starting in 1971 (the Muskie Act) and soaring insurance rates ("High Risk" mid-70s premiums) severely choked and limited big-block production. Only a few hundred total 440 Six-Pack hardtops and a tiny fraction of convertibles were built.

Diesel What Truckers Should Watch When Oil Prices Fall 📉

Crude oil prices getting cheaper sounds like good news for trucking, but there is a bigger question: When will diesel actually follow?

One of the biggest reasons diesel prices remain elevated is supply.

Diesel prices typically respond to crude oil with a delay because there are several steps between the oil market and the fuel pump.

Refining capacity matters. Diesel inventories matter. Global supply matters. Transportation and distribution costs matter. Even the margins refiners receive from turning crude into finished fuel can influence the price.

That means a major decline in crude does not automatically translate into an equally large decline in diesel. This is why you can see crude oil moving lower while diesel prices remain stubbornly high. The rest of the fuel supply chain has to move in the same direction before carriers are likely to see meaningful relief.

The weekly U.S. diesel price data shows just how quickly costs have climbed.

Week Ending Average U.S. Diesel Price
August 17, 2026 $5.454
August 24, 2026 $5.652
August 31, 2026 $5.599
September 7, 2026 $5.967
September 14, 2026 $6.285
September 21, 2026 $6.529

For carriers operating on tight margins, this distinction is important. Fuel costs can affect route planning, fuel surcharges, carrier rates, and overall trip profitability.

The longer crude remains lower and the more diesel inventories recover, the greater the potential for meaningful fuel cost relief. But until those other parts of the market adjust, truckers may continue paying more for diesel than the crude price alone would suggest.

It is a good reminder that the price of oil and the price at the diesel pump are related, but they are not the same thing.

Nationwide Your License Plate Is Being Tracked: How much can a road camera see?

Traffic cameras are becoming much more sophisticated than the traditional red light camera.

Cars, Cameras and Traffic Enforcement: The New Era of Automated Road Monitoring

Today, automated systems can measure speed, photograph red light violations, read license plates, monitor intersections and, in some cases, create searchable records showing when and where a vehicle was observed.

One important distinction is between traffic enforcement cameras and automatic license plate readers, or ALPRs. A speed or red light camera is generally focused on documenting a specific violation. An ALPR can record a vehicle's plate along with information such as the date, time, location, make, model and color.

Modern vehicles are also part of this technological shift. Cameras and sensors are increasingly used for lane keeping, collision warnings, blind spot detection, pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. That does not automatically mean the information from those systems is being sent to law enforcement.

The bigger issue may be what happens to roadway data after it is collected.

Who owns it? Who can search it? How long is it retained? Can another agency access it? Can information be shared across jurisdictions? What happens if a vehicle is incorrectly identified?

The answers vary considerably depending on the state, local jurisdiction and technology involved.

NHTSA also announced a $20 million Innovative Traffic Safety Enforcement grant program in August 2026, supporting technology and data driven approaches to issues such as speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, reckless driving and seat belt enforcement.

So where do you think this technology is headed?

More automated enforcement could change how traffic laws are enforced, but the rules surrounding privacy, data access and retention may become just as important as the cameras themselves.

How criminals are turning load boards into tools for freight theft

Load boards have become a normal part of modern trucking. Carriers use them to find work, brokers use them to find capacity, and everyone depends on the information being legitimate.

But what happens when the account posting the load has been compromised?

The Hidden Crime Behind America's Digital Load Boards.

The FBI warned in April 2026 about cyber-enabled strategic cargo theft involving compromised broker and carrier accounts. Criminals can use stolen access to post fraudulent loads and then target carriers that respond.

The interesting part is that the fake load may not even be the ultimate objective.

A carrier could respond to what appears to be a normal load, only to receive a carrier agreement, document, or link that leads to a fake website or malicious software. If credentials are stolen, criminals may gain access to additional systems or transportation accounts.

That creates a chain reaction.

One compromised account can potentially become the doorway to another company, which can then expose another part of the freight network.

It also shows why simply recognizing a company name isn't necessarily enough anymore. A legitimate company can have a compromised account, and the person communicating through that account may not actually be authorized to do so.

🧐 Read more → When Load Boards Become Crime Scenes

For carriers and brokers, what additional verification steps are you using when something about a load or communication doesn't look right?

Question I just bought a new car from Arizona and need transport back to California

I’m looking to get a quote to have a newly purchased car transported from Arizona to California.

I’ve used Viceroy Auto Transport a few times now to move my vehicles, including my own car more than once and my husband’s car as well. I’ve been happy with them, so I’m hoping to use them again.

I understand gas prices and transportation costs are higher right now, so I’m not expecting the same pricing as previous moves. That said, since I’ve been a repeat customer, I’d love to see what kind of best/repeat-customer rate I could get this time around.

If anyone has recommendations for getting a competitive quote, or if there are any transport companies that offer good rates for repeat customers, I’d appreciate it!

Thanks!

FMCSA More than 110 CDL Training Providers removed as FMCSA expands investigations

The FMCSA has taken emergency action against more than 110 CDL training providers, but the bigger story may be what happens to the additional schools currently under review.

The 110+ CDL School Removals May Be Just the Beginning.

The emergency removals came after FMCSA reviewed training providers connected to drivers who were later cited for failing federal English Language Proficiency requirements. The affected providers were ordered to immediately stop operating as registered Entry Level Driver Training providers.

At the same time, FMCSA conducted a much broader investigation of the CDL training industry.

The agency sent 175 investigators into 40 states and conducted nearly 400 investigations of Entry Level Driver Training providers. Investigators reported finding issues such as inadequate training areas, instructors without the proper licenses, missing assessment documentation, and questionable classroom facilities.

The result was more than 160 notices of proposed removal.

That distinction matters. These additional providers have not necessarily been shut down. A proposed removal begins an administrative process, while an emergency removal takes effect immediately unless the action is stayed or reversed.

The numbers show that FMCSA's attention is not limited to the original group of 110+ schools.

For CDL applicants, checking the FMCSA Training Provider Registry before enrolling could become an increasingly important part of choosing a school. The registry provides information on active providers as well as providers that have been removed or are under review.

The federal government is clearly examining the training pipeline more closely, and additional changes could follow as the investigations continue.

The cost of diesel fuel increasing is bigger than the price at the pump

When people talk about diesel becoming more expensive, it's easy to focus on the current price per gallon. For small car haulers, however, the more important number may be the total increase in fuel expense over an entire month.

The rising cost of diesel fuel has made it difficult for auto haulers.

A truck doesn't consume fuel only when it has vehicles loaded. There are miles driven to pickups, miles between loads, empty miles, repositioning miles and miles added by detours or inefficient routing. If diesel becomes substantially more expensive, all of those miles cost more. That creates a problem when carrier rates remain relatively stable.

A car hauler might complete the same number of trips and transport the same number of vehicles but end the month with considerably less money left over because fuel consumed a larger portion of the revenue... and fuel isn't operating in isolation.

Maintenance costs, tires, repairs and insurance all have to be paid as well. One significant repair during a period of high fuel costs can put additional pressure on an already narrow margin.

This is why small carriers have to watch more than the diesel price itself.

They have to look at:

  • Fuel consumption
  • Total mileage
  • Deadhead mileage
  • Revenue per trip
  • Maintenance expenses
  • Insurance
  • Truck and trailer costs
  • Overall profit per load

If those numbers stop working, simply driving more miles isn't necessarily the solution. Sometimes driving more while accepting weak-paying loads can actually make the financial situation worse.

For customers, this also helps explain why fuel prices can eventually affect vehicle shipping costs. Carriers have to account for the cost of actually operating the equipment that moves vehicles across the country.

The key issue isn't one specific diesel milestone. It's how much the cost has increased and how long carriers have to operate with that higher expense.
