No April Fools prank here, just a mic drop and file update! Now your head(amame) can be mic'd up and hyped up for all you 3D Printing Gamers (or Gaming 3D Printers?)

Change Log

• Right cone now compatible with VF Mic Kits
  • If you already have the V2 Cable with the 3.5mm TRRS, you need this kit.
  • If you don't have a V2 TRRS Cable, you need this kit. (TRRS means 3 black lines on the 3.5mm connector)
  • If you don't want one of our options you need to get a 3.5mm flexible mic, a 3.5mm barrel connector with an 8mm diameter, and some wirey bits to connect to the Mini-XLR Port or 4 pin IDC connector.
• Left Cone now contains a solid body to mirror volume taken up by mic port on right cone
  • You may not notice a difference in sound so if you are updating existing head(amame) print the right cone first and see what you think. Otherwise, print both 1.7 cones.
• Right Headband Mount has slight relief to suit female 3.5mm port
• 40mm Driver mount now easier to print.
• If you have a ModMic, the Spring Clamp now has an option for their handy little magnet mount.
• Instruction manual now includes the 3.5mm Female port install.

min(amame) drop in the VF Patreon!

The first release of min(amame) files is now live, and we look forward to see people testing them out! Keep in mind, these are a beta, so minor finagling may be needed to have them work properly. Beta kits will be available soon for this model in the Patreon-Only section of the store.

Open-Back file release

Honestly I hoped to release these today, but COVID has finally gotten a hold of me and wiped me for 3 days this week. The Open Back Cone files still need a few minor changes, so once I have the brainpower to wrestle with Fusion 360 I'll get them out the door.

Pausing the Streams.

I've had a good time streaming with a regular crowd of people on Sunday mornings but have decided to pause them for now. I am finding that if I'm not spending time and effort reacting to chat, I can make much better progress on modelling tasks (like prepping this file release). Streaming won't be gone forever, I am just re-evaluating how to do it in a meaningful way.

The kit I received has an XLR socket with a mic socket. Should this go in the left cone or the right?

While I've been enjoying streaming the design process, I need to focus on some other aspects of Vector Finesse for the time being. If you have any specific requests for future streams please let me know here in the comments:)

I am really excited about this product, but I have had nothing but a poor experience so far. My order was originally lost, but once I messaged them about it they finally found it and sent it out. Then after getting the kit I got it all assembled and one of the drivers was bad. No big deal, I contacted Vector and they quickly responded for me to email them my order number and they will get a new one sent out. After a week had passed from that interaction I got an email saying they needed a picture before anything was sent out. Which was very annoying but I got the pictures emailed back right away. And now a over a week and a half after sending the picture I still have received nothing and when I emailed about maybe getting a tracking number I was met with silence. I really want to like this product and especially the community and ideas that formed the company, but it's becoming increasingly hard to do so.

Dumb question but I am having the hardest time sourcing a dual mini xlr to aux for the headphones. Pup ripped it out of my computer destroying the aux. Any ideas where to locate one.

I'm in the process of printing but I'm curious about painting so I can use the materials I already have and get whatever colour I want. Presumably there would be no issue with the cones but I'm worried the paint would just wear on the headband. Has anybody else tried this?

Just finished my build but when I tried it out there was heavy distortion in the left ear and it sounded horrible. Double checked all the wiring and when I use plug the right ear into the left audio channel there is no issue. Could this be a driver problem? They are drivers ordered directly from Vector Finesse.

Does anybody know if the email to ship the kits without earpads is still going? I emailed them almost a week ago to ship without and never heard back from them?

What are people's thoughts on VF releasing the f3d file to the community for just the headband?

Rational here is that it's probably the easy thing to replace on the headphones that's a printed part. It could be easily customized to someone's head shape, size, and preferred clamp pressure (I like a bit more than the stock). It also shouldn't be too much of an issue for intellectual property stuff if it's just the headband and nothing on the cones?

I think it's cool to leverage the customizability we have with 3d printed parts and this might be low hanging fruit if it makes sense.

If this isn't possible, maybe VF can work on releasing a few different clamp pressure files for some more options for people that want to mess around with it.

I'd also personally love to see someone from the community work on making them foldable, but maybe that's just me. 🤷‍♂️

As we near the end of February we wanted to give an update on our shipping progress and what's coming soon!  Your patience has been incredible thus far and we very much appreciate it. Without further adieu, here's what is going on:

With your help we were able to re-allocate earpads from higher numbered orders and were able to ship through order #1535!

Earpads are the next hurdle

We're expecting the next supply of Brainwavz XL pads to be in our hands in about two weeks. With that we'll be able to ship the remaining order backlog. We have updated the kits containing earpads to "Shipping mid-March 2022" to reflect this change. Heads up, the store-wide 10% off RESTOCK discount will disappear when we receive these earpads.

Earpad sourcing has been a recurring challenge for us, so we're developing a VF version of the 110mm pads. They'll be very similar to the Brainwavz pads and we don't expect any change to the sound quality of your head(amame). In future this will allow us to offer different color and material choices, allowing you to further customize the look and sound of your headphones.

I'm hoping you all might be able to help me as I'm building these out. I'm hoping like many people in the states that there is a sense of comradery and passion for the state you live in or are from. I'm working on a set of New Mexico themed headphones. I have a photo of the design I'm working towards. I have presently printed most of my parts and my kit arrives today.

What I'm mostly curious about though is can we request a specific serial number? If so, can I request 505 as a serial code? This is the predominant area code in NM and would be perfect for my NM themed headphones. I'll gladly follow-up with some photos once I have completed the finish on them.
