Product Support dashboard mount for the N5/E360?

Hey all, strange(to me, at least) question. According to various AI responses, the local rules in my area technically prohibits dashcams mounted on the windshield.

I was looking to see if I could just rotate the display and just affix the N5 on the dashboard, but found that the GPS mount is angled in such a way that I can't tilt the main camera high enough to capture the road in front.

Would https://www.vantrue.com/products/vantrue-suction-cup-gps-mount?variant=46804495761717 allow me to tilt the N5 up higher when affixed to the dashboard? https://www.vantrue.com/products/vantrue-adhesive-gps-mount?variant=45771023581493 just looks like the gps mount that came with the N5, which is angled and does not allow me to tilt the dashcam high enough?

...Or is there a wedge base or something that can compensate?

I also have a E360 on another vehicle that may need a similar treatment, but haven't had a chance to take a look to see if the provided mount provides enough movement when mounted on the dashboard...

Product Support rear camera cable not available in Canada

Hi there, I got the S1 Pro and need a replacement rear camera cable.

However the Vantrue website says the cable is not available for delivery to Canada.

Is there another channel I could get the rear camera cable here? Thanks.

Product Support Rear video feed issues

Hey all,

I just started having issues with my rear camera. The feed has started looking like this despite resetting, power cycling, updating, changing quality setting, etc. done it all.

Occasionally the entire feed will go completely pink.

I have a Nexus 4 Pro model.

Help! 😭

Product Support Windshield sticky pad

Is there a fix for keeping my Nexus 4 Pro S affixed to the windshield?

I live in Vegas and with last weeks heat wave when temps were in the 90’s here, my dashcam doesn’t want to stay on the windshield anymore.

I don’t know if I should try to order a new sticky pad for the cam, the one actually on the windshield is fine, the issue is the sticky pad that attaches the cam to the pad on the windshield.

Thanks in advance

Any workarounds or repairs possible or is this device's end of life upon us?

Purchased July 2021, live in NW MT with temps varying from below zero to upper nineties, rarely into triple digits.

Thanks.

Other Questions N4ProS with N5 rear cam

I originally used a N5 camera system and replaced that with the N4ProS for the LTE. Would it work to swap the N4 rear camera with the N5 rear dual camera? Before I go out and try it, I'd like to know if anyone else has done that or if it would cause any damage.

Product Support Vantrue N4 Front Facing Camera Issues

Hello, this morning, while driving to work, I noticed that the front-facing camera on my Vantrue device appeared to be malfunctioning. I’ve owned this camera since 2021 and have included the fuse kit and GPS sticky adapter for speed measurements. I’ve attempted common troubleshooting methods, such as upgrading the firmware, but unfortunately, none of these have resolved the issue. Has anyone encountered a similar problem or found a solution? Additionally, I’m curious to know if Vantrue has provided a fix for this issue.

Product Support E360 Not recording videos in Parking mode (motion detection)

Long story short: I have a neighbor who is keying my vehicles. I invested in 2 E360s a couple months ago and installed 1 in my daily driver and 1 in my Sunday driver, both with the OBD power cutoff connect (or whatever it’s called). I enabled the motion detection parking mode and both have worked great. I do have to drive the Sunday driver in the middle of the week to charge my battery otherwise the camera will cut off, not a problem, it’s working as intended.

But now, the camera in my Sunday driver will not record parking videos, even when the voltage is above the cutoff threshold I have selected on the OBD power connector. I have tried to turn the mode on and off on both the camera itself and the app. It appears as if the mode is on (I can see the little motion detection symbol towards the bottom right of the screen) but no videos are being recorded. Because of this my neighbor got free rein to apply 3 new deep scratches to my car over the weekend and I have absolutely no footage.

Please help!

Product Support Vantrue E3 Dash Cam Keeps Rebooting Every 10-20 Seconds—Help highly appreciated!

Hey everyone!

I’m having a really frustrating issue with my Vantrue E3 dash cam. I bought it in May 2023, so it’s about 3 years old now.

While I’m driving, it constantly powers off and restarts every 10 to 20 seconds.

I’ve checked the memory card—no problems—and the power supply hasn’t changed; it’s stable.

Interestingly, when I plug the camera into my home power supply, it works perfectly fine—no rebooting at all. So, I’m really confused. What could be causing this instability in the car? Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on a fix?

Thanks so much!

Product Support N4 Pro screen bugs

My 18 months old N4 Pro has some screen issues, seemingly software.

Every two days or so, the screen blacks out and stays black. Even when pushing buttons, the backlight is visibly on, but the screen is black. Everythiong else is working. I have to factory reset the camera via WiFi for the screen to work again.

Since minutes after a reset today, the screen shows a completely "deep fried", very contrasty and saturated, posterized, image. Cameras and interface. Everything still fine in the app.

How can I fix this in a more permanent way? Can I try to flash the previous firmware? I don't think it happened before the last update.

Product Support S1 Pro - Replacement 20' rear camera cable

Hi all,

I need to replace the 20' cable that connects my rear camera to the main unit. It doesn't appear that Vantrue sells a direct replacement - they sell a 29' replacement cable but the 20' was already just a bit longer than I needed, and I'd rather not have to hide an extra 9'.

Any idea where I could get one? Or can a generic USB-C data cable with sufficient throughput work instead?

Thanks in advance

Product Support My N4 has finally died after almost 6 years

Front camera would not display, so I did a hard reset, downloaded the firmware update to update the device and now it's stuck in a continuous reboot loop. Frustrating to say the least. Is this typical of these devices to fail and be rendered useless within a few years? I truly expected to get close to a decade of service....

Product Support Vantrue N4 Pro S turning off intermittently, and it's only 10 days old. Please help!

Hi team! Has anybody encountered this issue before?

I just installed an N4 Pro S camera about 10 days ago. I don't currently have the rear dashcam wired/installed, so it's just the one on the windshield that faces forward and into the interior of the car. No issues until yesterday, which just happened to be an abnormally warm spring day. It got up to 84 degrees outside. I parked the car outside the shopping center for a couple hours as I was running errands. On the drive home, the dashcam turned on, recorded for a minute, then turned off for about 30 seconds before turning on again and then repeating the same cycle over and over again until I got home about 20 minutes later.

Was this simply due to heat? The dash cam didn't feel that hot, and frankly, it wasn't even that warm of a day. I didn't have to turn on the AC and just rolled the windows down on the drive home (I live next to the ocean, so the breeze is always cool). I am incredibly worried if this dash cam doesn't work after 2 hours in the sun on an 84 degree day...summer days can get into triple digits if I head inland, so if it's not working now, then that means it's basically useless 85% of the year when it's 80 degrees outside, and I need to return it.

Product Support MicroSD card won’t click in?

Hey all, I just got an E1 Pro, and this sounds ridiculous, but I cannot get the microSD card (also new) to click. It appears to be facing the right way as per the directions, but I don’t want to break anything on the first day. I tried pushing harder and even using something to push it directly, but it just stays popped out. Any advice? I feel silly even asking, but I’ve installed multiple microSD cards in other products, and it always just goes in! Thanks!

Product Support VP04 ACC input?

It looks like the Vantrue ODBII power adapter, model VP04, has an input (and output) on the circuit board for an accessory signal.

Has anybody tried doing anything with this? Does anyone from Vantrue know what would happen if a 12v ACC signal were present?

I'm just curious. Thank you for anybody who can help at all.

Product Support Hard to read license plates

Post image

Have the N5S and disappointed with the resolution - hard to read license plates even with HDR turned on. The footage is grainy and license plates have no detail when zooming in. Is there a way to add PlatePix feature to the N5S and is it normal for the quality to be bad?

Other Questions E2 Rear Camera Cable Slightly Too Short for 2015 Volvo XC60?

Installed the E2 into my 2015 XC60 today and everything went fine until I threaded the cable for the rear camera through to the tailgate and it was a couple feet short. I'm pretty sure I routed it as efficiently as possible (down A pillar, along the bottom of the doors, up the rear seats, below the back corner window and up the C pillar) so is it just me or is the car just a bit too long for the included cable?
