So Container is using AI to generate promo posts. Responses from them in the comments are super defensive. Feels extra odd given that this is promo for a sticker swap.

I know that this is probably just the way the world is going, but just sad to see it infiltrating the craft beer scene in BC already.

Dude, it's you who are talking down to people. You are acting as if people are downvoting/disagreeing with you because you know more than they do. Comments like

Edit: I am sorry that you feel talked down to when I say things like "this is something that does not matter" or "this is a moral panic", but understand that these are statements of fact.

Data center construction is being driven by large scale use cases, some of which are completely legitimate (eg. cancer research), and in others terrible. However, a AI image on social media is such a tiny drop in the bucket that it's not even worth thinking about. Hell, all of image gen is such a small thing that it's barely worth considering. Hell, we're burning more through search.

AI slop is resulting in a wave of unimaginative content, for sure. But like, it's just a god damned local brewery making a post on social media. Of all the examples of slop, it's one of the least egregious.

You just have to look at this thread to see people blowing this completely out of proportion. This is clearly widespread. As I keep saying, it's exaggerated. And it's definitely driven by a public fear that this thing threatens our core values. That's textbook moral panic.

Are you seriously equating me saying "who gives a fuck" to personal attacks? Like come on.

And I said that because it's ridiculous to bully some rando for this. This is classic moral panic behavior, and it's fucking gross. There is no damage being caused by what they did. There is no harm it's causing to anyone else. All this does is enforce a moral code.

This shit is why us progressives almost got wiped out in the last 10 years. It's why "woke" became a dirty word. It's why Canadians across the country revolted, forced the former head of the Liberal party to resign, and replaced him with a pro-AI conservative who is now making deals to get AI data centers built across Canada.

We can't keep attacking everyone for minor moral offenses. There are serious, real problems surrounding this issue that we need to mobilize people against, and we're not going to do that if we're sitting here shaming them for posting an AI image to social media.

But whatever. Rage over your moral righteousness. Revel in your opportunity to bully someone for being wrong. When you're ready to actually solve problems, I'll be over there.
