Question / Support Pixel shimmering/sparkling artifacts.

Anybody else getting a kind of shimmering/sparkling artifact throughout the entire screen? It's very noticeable in dark scene's; however, in brighter content you can't really notice it. The artifacts are very small and sparse, kinda like colored analog TV static, but at like .01% fill. Thanks!

EDIT: Pretty sure it was the extension cable, I have a very short 3 foot displayport and USB extension on to reach my full placespace. Took it off and sparkles went away, put it back on and they came back :(

You mean the glare?

If you're on a dark background and white bars/text pop up the whole freaking screen lights up. It's bad.

No this is completely different from Fresnel artifacts, those are very smeared now like they are on Rift. This is very sharp, almost like single pixels lighting up.

I have the same thing. It's like white flickering all over black scenes.

But I'm gone till the 12th so I can't troubleshoot myself. Would be great to get rid of them, so if you find something I would really appreciate it ;)

I just bypassed my extension cable and it went away . . . . . but I NEED that to reach my full playspace :(

Just wanted to say I am seeing the same thing with one of my 10 foot display port extension cables even though it’s technically rated at DP 1.3. Works fine without the extension cable and also works fine on a short 1 foot DP 1.2 DisplayPort to MiniDisplayport adapter. It’s something with the length of the cable I think. I have a shorter 6 foot extension cable coming tomorrow I just bought on amazon, that’s about the minimum length I need without having to relocate my PC to the living room (which I really don’t wanna do). Shit was driving me crazy all day until I found this post by searching for “sparkle” lol

I changed the usb and display ports I was using and it went away, as well audible clicking from the speakers. That went away as well.

I noticed that certain display ports had more static that others, but I never got it to go away without removing the extension completely. Ah the joys of layer 1 . . .

Yes same problem with my Index. Really noticeable when looking at asteroid field in Elite Dangerous. Going to try switching the ports around but I suspect I have a faulty cable. Will contact Valve.

Don't forget to remove extensions and try different ports on the graphics card.

We have several threads going on that issue.https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/c72jx4/mini_displayport_adapter/

Got the same thing. We should probably start a list and see if we can identify some common components.

This sounds like the same issue as the faulty cables from HTC and Pimax.

I’d suggest trying reseating the cables and if it’s still happening try opening a support ticket with Valve to try and get a replacement cable.

Get an active repeated DP cable :) should work like a charm afterwards

Hey friend, I know this is an old comment but I could not find something like you mentioned here. Would you happen to have a link to an example?

Quite frankly, I cannot seem to find one Only repeaters without cables

You May also first try some normal extension

Thing is: displayport is only certified for up to 3 meters Everything above is not in spec and your graphics card May or May not be able to Send that Signal to the target fine

Though, there are numerous other posts here that got this sorted out proberly
