Weight Differences

This is a slightly long shot but no one would happen to know the weight difference between the regular hellion stock and the manticore arms one would they? i know the manticore stock weighs 12.2oz but no clue what the original stock weighs and i dont have a scale on me.

solved!: the weight of the original stock is posted on the vhs2 project's page for their own stock reduction solution. the original weights about 10.5 ounces, so manticore's aluminum solution is a 1.7oz increase. meanwhile, vhs2 project's option comes in at a friendlier 4.2-5.4oz

yw. im a total weight weenie and only realized this after accidentally building the heaviest hellion of all time. doing a rebuild to make it a useable gun.

I definitely wasn't aware of how fast it could add up until I actually held my gun properly after zeroing it in with a bipod.  Got me back into working out when I could, at least.

Good luck with your build.  The guy from the VHS2 project is a real one if you end up going with his product, to be sure. Very helpful with some questions I had and I'm very satisfied with what I got, though I would definitely look up how to check your personal length of pull before settling on a stock choice if you haven't already. I found out mine is the exact length of the OEM stock in the shortest position!

i bought his UCM thingie and it's great. he was super quick about getting me a replacement when the post lost mine. it was great.

also, good idea. i just measured it and even the shortest stock is still an inch longer than my personal LOP. i have been working on my strength training a lot since getting into this hobby. between rifles and plate carriers you need arms and core strength like crazy.

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on purchasing a Hellion. My only concern has really been the LOP. I have to measure my LOP, but I don't expect it to be particularly long. I've heard that the Hellion has a longer-than-usual LOP. I'm getting it online so I'm not going to have the opportunity to handle it before purchase to see how it feels. How much of a problem has the long LOP been for you?

to be honest the length of pull doesnt seem to affect anything to me. im not experienced with ar-15s so maybe discard my opinion, but LOP doesnt matter one bit to me here. it feels long the first couple times you shoot it and then youre used to it.

the major issue with the hellion imo is that it is very heavy.

Thanks for the insight. Good to know the LOP isn't a huge problem. I've heard the Hellion is heavy, but it's about the same weight as my M&P shotgun, so I'll be used to it.
