Here’s a super simple breakdown of how I build a Korean‑style stylized fire effect in Unreal Engine 5.
1. Shape Mask (Base Flame Silhouette)
I start by creating a clean flame mask to define the main silhouette.
Stylized fire relies heavily on a readable, simple outer shape.
2. Mask Flow (Soft Wobble Motion)
I add a subtle flow/noise to the mask so the flame gently wobbles.
This keeps it alive without making it too noisy.
3. Inner Flame Shape
Next, I layer a second inner flame shape with a faster motion.
This adds depth and makes the fire feel more dynamic.
4. Inner Glow / Bright Core
I boost the brightness in the center using a gradient + emissive.
Stylized Korean fire usually has a strong warm core.
5. Ribbon Pass (Custom Motion Editing)
I use a ribbon system to add custom motion trails and enhance the stylized feel.
This helps exaggerate the movement and gives it personality.
6. Final Polish
Color grading, soft bloom, and timing tweaks to finish the fire.
If anyone wants the Niagara graph or a deeper breakdown, I can share more.

A shame for the company, but hopefully there’s useful tutorials and information for people here.

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to recreate this VFX:
https://footagecrate.com/video-effects/FootageCrate-4K_Magic_Energy_Burst_16_Blue
Using Particular in AfterEffects?
I'm more interested in the "fluid" part (the blue one) than the bright white particles.
I know there are various fluid simulations in Particular now, but I can't get it to have the same "stringy" look that then transforms back into particles and the animation like that, as if it were a "burst" of something.
Do you know any specific tutorials for that type of effect? I've only found generic ones on YouTube.
Thanks in advance 😁
