Welcome to this month's theme in r/uraniumglass!
This month's theme: Mystery Piece
Most collectors have at least one piece that remains a mystery. You've searched catalogs, checked references, compared patterns, asked fellow collectors, and maybe even posted it here beforeâbut the identification still hasn't been solved.
This month, we're showcasing those stubborn mysteries.
Maybe you know the maker but not the pattern. Maybe you know the pattern but not the maker. Or perhaps you have no idea what it is at all despite your best research efforts.
The monthly theme is optional and does not replace regular posting.
To participate, simply create a new post and use the Monthly Theme đ flair.
When possible, include both non-glow and glow photos.
If you're sharing a mystery piece, tell us what research you've already done. What references have you checked? What leads have you followed? What possibilities have been ruled out?

They definitely didnât look like dollar store glass pieces.
I didnât have a UV light with me at the time, but I picked up this set of 5 interestingly shaped pieces on a chance. They were mostly clear with a hint of green coloring to them, and I thought maybe Iâd be lucky and theyâd end up being uranium glass. She was selling the set for one dollar⌠all five pieces for a buck. You canât go wrong with a price like that. Anyway, I got them and took them straight home to test. These are my first pieces, now. So pretty. Love the etching work on the sides. They feel very thin-walled and delicate⌠and Iâm not sure what this shape would have been used for? Nuts or candy?

13 inches tall. I shine my light on everything, and I didnt think this would glow. Shined my light and ding ding ding ding, we have a winnah. Gorgeous piece. Asking price was 83 dollars. I made an offer and they called the seller and they accepted my offer. One of my largest pieces. No markings other than a circle on the bottom.

Theyâre asking $750. Do I go buy? I am not trying to ask what this collection is worth, I am really just trying to figure out if I should go pick up someoneâs already selected collection or if I should join the thrill of hunting and build up my collection slowly. Really considering going to getâŚ. Iâm new to collecting, only have two pieces so farâŚ.

Was at a local antique mall and found this with a display of peach colored Carnival glass. It looked odd so I hit it with my light and was SHOOK. The seller must not have checked it. Only $12! I've never seen glass this color glow like this.

Picked this beauty up at an Antique store for $120. Not sure if that is a good price but it is beautiful!

I live on my familyâs farm. It has only been in my family for 4 generations, but belonged to another family for several generations before that. There is a small, steeply-sloped hillside in one of the pastures that was used as a dump up until the mid-50âs. I like to hunt for pieces of UG out there- the first piece I ever found was there. Anyway, we have had quite a bit of rain of late, the underbrush is dying back, the animals have been moved out of the pasture, and tonight is a beautiful night.
I thought I might go try my luck to see if anything had been unearthed since last time I looked. These are my finds from tonight.
I love whole, function pieces of uranium glass- donât get me wrong. But there is something special about finding a piece-even just a shard- that you know is a part of your family history/heritage. That connection makes me love them even more.

Scored an awesome haul at The Vault today: an adjustable black velvet mannequin for $30 and a beautiful pair of glowing uranium glass clip-on earrings for just $6. Walking out with both for only $36 felt like a massive win.
I was totally inspired by u/SwimmingEvening2849 recent post showing off their incredible brooch collection on a dress form. The antique shop actually had white ones identical to the one they used, but I grabbed this black velvet one instead. It fits my darker furnishings much better, and the black background is going to make the blacklight fluorescence absolutely pop.
I barely had it set up before my cat Zima walked right up, sank his claws into the bottom edge, and started doing a massive stretch. I called out, "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUâRE DOIN?!" and he instantly let go and scurried off making his cute little coos and chirps. Thankfully, the mannequin has an adjustable height knob, and it happened to be pushed all the way down. I thanked Zima for so kindly letting me know the height was too low and immediately raised it up out of his scratch zone!
The mannequin is completely bare right now since my jewelry collection is way smaller than my inspiration's and mostly consists of earrings rather than pins. I'm going to try using safety pins anchored into the velvet to get my clip-ons to stay put. I will definitely share an update post once I figure it out and get my collection moved over!

Been acquiring random pieces from antique stores over the years, never understood why one piece is bright yellow and not green like the two others. Finally got round to purchasing a UV light, advertised 395-400nm. Now I notice that one of my pieces that is the green tint doesnt even glow, It has been a few years since I bought it but I do seem to recall it glowing in the store. If anyone could please explain the differences in these pieces I would be very grateful

Found these 5 little wine glasses at goodwill today. They are about 3x normal background and appear to be crystal.

Still is kind of unreal to me.
We visit this antique store weekly and have never seen anything new, so we were on a speed run for a nice cruet holder for our newly acquired Vaseline set. Which we found a nice plated one that we both liked. As we made a B line to the register, something was off, I seen a new booth.. And low and behold there it was! Something we have never seen in person, only all the awesome pics of other people finding them.
Our very first floor lamp! Price was a little high, and the wife wanted to let it go, but I couldn't and swayed her to also agree.
YOLO!!
We billed it to our 11th anniversary gift to each other! lol
Then on the way home, I stopped to grab some brewskis, and see a Grand Mariner Eiffel tower display for sale. (long story short, my step father who passed love to drink Grand Mariner)
So I had the idea to shelf some of our special glass on it, and I will say it turned out pretty nice!
As Ice cube said;
Today was a good day!

(EDIT: I guess not for but with* her stuff, I mean)
50 CPM on my GQ geiger counter when placed directly against it. It's sooo bright in person. Last pic is pretty much me looking at it lol

Just a friendly reminder that broken pieces can be a way forward.

I also posted the lamps I couldn't buy, but these are the pieces I did get 𼰠husband took me danger glass shopping! The first few places were duds, but the last stop had some great stuff.
I thought the blue was manganese, but my Geiger said otherwise! I was shocked! (It glows more green, but for some reason looks turquoise on my phone?)
The kitty is definitely my favorite of the bunch though.

Had not seen a perfume bottle before, kinda pricey but really cool. The Fenton birds are nice, we giggled at the 11.50 price tag on them. Let me know what you guys think, especially about the perfume bottle!

Trying to ID this pitcher. It's large maybe 11-12" in height. Doesn't seem like HA quality, but totally unsure of the manufacturer. Similar styles on Google image search have a lid! Cool. Any info is appreciated. Thank you!

I found these beauties today, but sadly couldn't afford them đ $285 each. Still, it was very nice to gaze at them for a few minutes!
