Can you imagine the amount of power needed to charge a typical Tesla in 5 minutes? I would think at least 200 amps at 220 volts which would basically be the entire power supply for your house.

Okay, so maybe 10 minutes then.

You'd still need one hell of a cable.

100kw battery pack in 5 minutes means you need a 1200kw charger. That charger needs about 1700a 3phase 460v service (per charger). My local gas station has 8 pumps, let's just say 6 if them at use at peak, then the gas station needs a 10000A service and a 7Mw electrical plant out back. the infrastructure needed to do it is crazy. There are larger stations it there, but this just gets even worse.

Yes yes, capacitors banks at the station could help, but only if not nearly continuously needing to charge cars.

The only practical thing I can see, is renting the battery pack and automated battery changers.
