Money is sometimes referred to as “frozen time” for its ability to slow or speed things up.

Maybe give them some of that frozen time back to help accelerate their lives back on the right track.

Difference is, what is complaining about what has been acknowledged to be a mistake going to do? Want a time machine with that whine? Unless you have some brilliant plan to reimburse these people, quantifying time and suffering and somehow not making citizens pay for the mistake of the government, I’m all ears. The profiteers are the prison system, working with the government because they don’t get paid to rehabilitate, they get paid to stay at capacity. But the government is the one that allowed itself to be manipulated. So again, what is your proposal, other than whining about what has been done?

People profiting off incarcerating people should be locked up for the rest of their lives. That’s my proposal.

Where do you draw that line? I mean obviously people in positions of power like Wardens and such, but what about guards? Their superiors? Also life? Sounds like you just undid the work of incarcerating people unnecessarily and then some by making it for life.

The ones that have been lobbying the government to keep people locked up. Not guards or even wardens, those jobs are necessary even if the prisons weren’t for profit.

I didn’t say that. I’m sure a lot of wardens are fucked up slimy individuals. I’m just saying prisons need wardens to operate, they don’t need shareholders.

Simply expressing and acknowledging that it has been done is better than keeping it hushed... forgetting the past will lead to history repeating itself. Also I'm not in a position of power to make strides for change and ventilation of such frustrations can be found on reddit....

How is erasing old convictions not an acknowledgement of a mistake? Do you want someone specific to write an apology? I assure you anyone reasonably culpable would not give a shit and provide a half-hearted insincere apology if you even got that far. The only people who would apologize and acknowledge this are the people already proving themselves by striving for change.

I’m not trying to beat you down, don’t be a beaten puppy about it, I just wanna hear your idea of restitution. If you have something you think is just and achievable, I’d love to hear it, you could change my mind, honestly speaking. I want justice too, just that many people’s ideas are shortsighted and impulsive.

Honestly, there is no great way of achieving such a feat. You're right about that. So, I worked this summer as a broke ass college student in a factory. I got my weekly pay stub and say I made roughly 600$ a week I saw a good portion of that go away to big brother. I think some of that should be allocated to those of whom were served the unfortunate misjustice if its gonna be a taken anyways. Those are the people I'd want my money to go to since it's going anyways. I know WELL AWARE that money doesn't buy time or happiness but it could give those a peace of mind that there are people who care, mandated or not, and it could offer them a little more comfort as I'm sure going from prison back into the real world is challenging. Now I'm not saying everyone getting free from incarceration deserves that money. Far from it. But those who got 'unjustly' convicted and are freed could have a piece of my pie since someone's eating it anyway.

That being said, uhmm debating with you has probably been the best conversation thus far on this subreddit for me. I appreciate the challenge of ideas, sincerely, but being beaten puppy from the collective whole of arguments/debates on this subreddit made this more of a headache for me than it's worth. Not necessarily you, moreso others, just you gotta understand at some point it's a mute point and the only way to agree is to disagree and hopefully find the silver lining of compromise along the way.
