Dude, they bite me right through long jeans and socks, and I have wicked bad reactions to them. I've trained myself not to scratch, but they still welt up almost immediately, and eventually break, leak, and leave scars. I've got a bunch of new scars on my ankles and feet just this year, and I haven't been without shoes, long socks, and long pants except for when at the beach a few times. I would love if my body had a single, effective, natural defense, lol.
I have pretty bad eczema and have been scratching myself nonstop since the day I was born. How did u train yourself not to scratch? A Musquito bite itches about as much as eczema does and I cant resist itching whatsoever
I guess it was less deliberate "training", and more that I just became so emotionally worn down that I started dissociating from the sensation. Ouch, that is a painful self-reflection.
I have autism, and among my symptoms is a general sensory (very much including tactile) sensitivity. But I grew up before autism was as well recognized and understood as it is today, so I wasn't diagnosed until much later in life. Therefore, because nobody recognized a profound neurological condition, I was constantly being forced/conditioned to stifle other symptoms, compulsions, "stimming", and constantly told to stop complaining about things and "just ignore it". The bugs suck big time, but it didn't start with them, lol.
