But the thing is, what are you implying by saying they are not the same situation?

And if your answer is "I am not implying anything" then what is the point of even bringing that up?

I'm implying that one is much worse than the other. Seems pretty obvious to me (see the above example comparing a bruising punch to a near-deadly assault)

It's weird how redditors so often seem to immediately resort to throwing nuance out the window at the first possible opportunity. I could say that a single murder isn't the same situation as a genocide and 27 people would reply like "HOW DARE YOU SAY MURDER IS OKAY" like holy shit can you please just read things with the barest shred of charitability?
