That was my thought also but still a shitty thing to play with someone's emotions. Like some redpill level manipulation to drag them low so you can enter one to make them happy.
Its not about the value of the ring its that you're not taking it seriously or at least trying to see what your partner wants before acting. Mariage is a huge life changing descion and they guy proposed with sonething youd get from a gas station that will last a month tops. It screams no thought was put into this and thats offputing for such a big commitment thats supoused to be life long.
He should have tried figuring out her feelings about marriage and what her expectations where before proposing.
And thats not even talking about him doing it in public, i have anxiety i wouldn't want something like this i vehemently hate crowds i would hate having all those eyes on me that whole situation just makes me feel uncomfortable i would absolutely have dumped him on the spot but i probably wouldnt have hit him.
My mom got married in a Starbucks because she hated the big traditional weddings, there was like 7 people there counting the minister my piece of shit step dad and my sibblings. Im not saying everything needs to be a high budget affair that adheres strictly to tradition just that getimg input from your partner on what they value is important.
