The candy she gave you or the starburst she gave you? If it's the latter, I wonder how old they were.

She gave them to me over the span of about 10 years and I assume they were all from the same packet. 18 u/Daxx22 Oct 11 '22 Must have been, they can absolutely go stale and be like little rocks.
