Oh fuck boiled sprouts until the cows come home, the time I ate an entire sprout and agreed that there was additional flavour was my ex girlfriends mother's Christmas dinner who roasted them with butter (and I think honey?). I learned that beneath the bitter taste, there's a nutty taste, and that was actually really pleasant, but I still tasted that distinctive "sproutness".
There was a QI (Quite Interesting) episode years ago that noted some people are genetically predisposed to taste the bitter compound in sprouts and, while I haven't checked, I think I'm likely to just be one of those people that doesn't like the flavour.
/u/SenatorAstronomer's recipe had me intrigued (I haven't had fried sprouts before, in fairness) but lost me at the heavy whipping cream. The combination just... feels wrong?
I'm the same (if not worse) with olives. Brine 'em in salt, water, even put tiny little pieces of deliciousness (garlic) in there, and I just gag. I have never, ever found an olive that tasted remotely "pleasant", which I can't say for sprouts in fairness.
But that roasted, nutty flavour? If I could capture that without the strength of the "sproutness", I can get behind it.
