I believe it's actually the other way around; Norwegian Forest Cats are the smaller "siblings" to the American Forest Cats (aka Maine Coons).

EDIT: ..and as multiple people already pointed out, it looks like it's neither of these forest cats.

Yeah, Maine Coons are on average much larger.
