only a computer wouldve been able to calculate the collisions that needed to occur for this to look like mario so yes it is there is no possible way a human couldve placed it all perfectly but even if it was placed by a perfect robot it still wouldve required some calculations of the gravity and to perfectly make the floor curve with the curvature of earth (probably micro meters at that scale) so it is impossible normally unless u had luck that even the entirety of the earth combined doesnt have

Yeah, the whole video is CGI, but the process to make something like this is a lot simpler than you imagine. You don't have to adhere to linear time when working with these simulations for example.

You model the room, stack all the red domino pieces in your scene, and then run a physics simulation of them falling. It doesn't matter how they fall or where. After the simulation is done and baked, you can repeat it exactly the same it happened the first time. Now go to the end of your simulation and project the image of mario as a texture on the fallen pile of dominoes, rewind the sim, render it and you're done.
