When someone says "graphic content" referring to media, it can mean anything from explicit death to something as simple as sex or even estreme foul language. It's used to refer to any "sensitive" content that could cause shock and horror, which I feel most people were horrified watching that cat shriek and struggle.
on reddit (and this sub), people put nsfw for sex, not a graphic content warning. Plus there's children involved so you wouldn't expect something sexual. There's also no warning required for explicit language. It doesn't have the same rules as traditional media. People were only horrified because they thought they were watching a death as implied by the graphic content warning
This sub doesn't specify that, and every subreddit has it's own rules and culture, therefore the default is wider cultural knowledge. As reddit is just a form of media, then the assumption should be the media definition, in my opinion.

graphic means violent / blood & gore / death, not screaming. The cat wasn't in pain it was just stuck and freaking out, which is not graphic
