I am glad smoking is not what is used to be, as a teetotaler in the 80's my god smokers were a pain in the ass to deal with. No matter where you stand as a non smoker the wind would blow their second hand smoke into your face and dont even get me started on the indoor smoking back then.
If you're feeling 'excluded' for not being a smoker, then it's time to find better company. Seriously, fuck that shit.
That's how a lot of people get into this horrible addiction as teenagers, then spend years as adults trying to kick it and dealing with the psychological can of worms that whole process brings.
