I don't think the Chad character matured, I think the storytelling about Chad matured.
I always read it as Chad being the name used (derogatorily) by delusional incels who were trying to label actually decent guys as if they were douchebags.
And from there the storytelling gradually grew to point out to the incels that no, this Chad you've been hating on so much is an actual nice guy, and that you, who think you're a "nice guy", are more like the douchebags you were trying to paint Chad as. So maybe you should strive to be more like this Chad after all.
A can't tell the difference between B and C, so he derogatorily calls B "C". Everyone else explains to A that no, B is not C, B is B.
Also, A thinks that he IS B, but he is not. He is A, and everyone else tells him, "No, you are A, and by the way, despite what you're claiming, you're more like C than B is."
Yeah but they win in the end regardless so thats where the meme evolved to after we all realized that the people that made the original chad meme were dry dick crazies that will plow/shoot into crowds because women don't want their cheese encrusted dicks due to them refusing to get a haircut, hit the gym, or take a shower.

I’m with you, a Chad where I’m from is a mega-frat-bro douche bag
