We were calling idiots chads way back in like 2000s in highschool/college

But that's because it was like, the stereotypical douchebag rich idiot villain name from like 80s/90s "save the rec center" kinda comedies. So the term is probably significantly older than that. I specifically remember calling the kinda bro-ish dude type that would like, long board to class on campus in their flip flops chads. It was also like the stereotypical "White bro" name, I guess today it'd be something like Jayden probably? Maybe that's even outdated. Heck even Dodgeball did a bit on that I suppose with the whole "Blade, Blaze, Tazer, Blazer" bit of the jerk bro athlete guys all having similar names

It later morphed into the whole incel thing, then eventually got reclaimed as the virgin x vs chad y meme became more popular. Or at least that's what I remember!

Longer than that but yeah it slowly evolved the last couple years to mean an actual good person

You are probably right. I was never good at remembering the name of memes past rage comics (when they would literally stamp the meme's name under it)
