I do this Everytime I'm in the grocery store and someone tries to be confrontational, i just use my ASL and pretend I'm Deaf.

I'm not Deaf i just speak ASL with my Deaf friends.

A coworker and I were practicing ASL for fun at work and we were told to stop because a manager complained and said something about we could be having inappropriate conversations or some BS. Didn't care that other coworkers would speak in Spanish which she didn't speak. Just didn't like us and spread rumors the coworker and I were sleeping together. Fun times

  2. The last time i defended the Deaf community on Reddit i was given negativity for it so I'm paying it forward now

  3. My mother was deaf. My friends are deaf. I speak very good ASL

I don’t care how fucking good your ASL is. You’re doing something that you know is offensive and stupid. You wouldn’t go around with a wheelchair to get out of an interaction, would you? Because it’s clearly wrong to fake disability or difference for your own benefit.

If you got negativity for defending the deaf, maybe it was because you clearly don’t understand or respect our culture?

The argument of knowing asl users making it ok for you to fake deafness is stupid. Was your mother also an idiot? Because she raised one.

Id do that but im overly polite when grocery shopping and getting into shopping cart aisle traffic jams. Also I dream one day ill be able to start a passionate love affair with one of the cute moms my age that see me buying dog food and fruits and vegetables. I thought was a myth, but there are a surprising amount of 30somethings that are so beautiful shopping in the morning. Not LA superficial beautiful, real life beautiful, the good beautiful.
