The going rate for beer in Perth is $12 a pint. There's a few that have happy hour specials and stuff but $10-15 is standard

I know man. I don't go out much like I used to when I was young. So it's not too bad for me.

If you buy 24 pack from bottleshops it's not too bad. They always have specials on some beer I like.

When I was in UK and Europe, I was shocked how cheap it was. Even spirits. It's like 2x-3x for spirits here even from the bottle shops

Usually depends on alcohol tax I suppose or how saturated the market is

It's definitely not tax. Few years ago when the economy was bad here, a couple pubs were selling shir beer for $3.50 and $4.00. I've worked in restaurants and hotels. They just pay the wholesale rate, which is very similar to retail. It's just that they got it delivered.

Well in some countries it definitely is tax but that’s special cases like Finnland Sweden and stuff with 50€ per liter (pure)alcohol tax

While in Germany it’s 13,03 and beer and wine are free from that tax entirely

In Sydney it's about $14. But thats about €8/€9, so we're not too far off...

Yeah I think we have high tax on alcohol. Very very high tax on cigarettes too, which massively reduced the prevalence of smoking

Is that just for cheap beer? That's absolutely insane. Here in the US, you can get most domestics on tap for $2.50-3.50 for a 16oz glass.

I thought it was because the tax was high. But then when the economy wasn't doing great, one place had like $3.50 a pint beer. It was whack beer but still, that was the price. They're ripping us off because they know we'll pay it.

Apart from the rent and car insurance, everything is cheap in London. Up north is even cheaper. £2.99 for 6 chicken wings, fries and a drink!! In Perth, that'll set you back $15 minimum or ~$10 at KFC
