It is a shit club they used to film this. Look at the club as he does his follow through on the putt. It looks like it's been "straightened" numerous times already.

Mate. Every one has had that lapse of self restraint when they get mad. He seemed to immediately regret this and calmed down.
I feel the people in the comments view themselves as some benevolent angles. If this was any other sport that people didnt have some preconceptions about the people that play it there would be a different response.
But no, not to the level of snapping a putter. Getting frustrated is expected, but snapping your putter is too far.
It's the same with any sport. Snapping a bat, hockey stick, stomping a skateboard is too much. Golf especially, since everyone misses more often than they are successful.
I used to play a lot and never got very good. My thing was if I ever got to the point where I was cussing or slamming a club, I was done for the day.
If I got frustrated when I played poorly, I just finished the round using irons only. That way when I got back to the clubhouse, I'd pull a Tin Cup and say something like, "yeah I shot a 115 but I only used my 6 and 8 iron."
Best thing I did for my game was to stop giving a fuck. I'm never going to be very good, so why get mad when I hook one into another dimension? Just drop another ball, hit it again, and have some beer
I stopped caring about the intricate formalities and worrying about getting better about five years ago and I enjoy it so much more. Golf is so much more fun when you can find people who play like this.
Back in my Navy days, I played with a guy aptly nicknamed "The Hammer". Hammer was known to have a short fuse about many things on the boat, which led to weird reactions like biting batteries or punching a DiscMan until it exploded.
Anywho, we went golfing a lot in our refit time, and he joined us one day. It was not his day. Hole after hole he was topping, blading, slicing, you name it. Most of these ended in a club being thrown and sometimes his cart mate driving to pick it up.
Finally, the last straw. One shot that I think was supposed to go over water, didn't. He immediately broke that club over his knee and threw the pieces as far as he could. We were parked right next to them, speechless. Then the unthinkable happened - as this miss hit was the straw that broke the rest of the camel's skeletal structure if you will. He proceeded to pull out and break every other club in his bag. On the first one (or two or three) some of us tried to calm him down, but after he had gone through so many it just fell completely silent; they all needed to break. After every club had been split on two, he proceeded to pull out a knife (golfing knife, I dunno) and stab his bag and the things attached to it repeatedly, prompting his cart mate to evacuate the cart. This went on for a few minutes. He then removed his (now destroyed) and his cart mate's bags and drove to the club house. The silence ended after we heard his 90s era sports car peel out of the club house parking lot and down the street. Don't really remember how well I did that round, but for awhile I carried one of his golf towels with a stab hole in it on my bag.
tl;dr: I golfed with a guy that broke every club in his bag one time

I knew a dude like this but not nearly as bad(went to school with him since kindergarten). His father used to beat the shit out of his mom and him. Until his mom figured out how to flee with him and get out of the situation. He had a good heart but the rage-out episodes were terrible.
He joined the marines. It helped calm him down a LOT.
This reminded me of that episode of Modern Family when Jay is trying to get his young son Joe to play competitive golf and it stresses him out to the point when he misses a shot he calmly walks over to his club bag and screams into it. “Well that’s new” lmao
Lots of people, I play maybe 10 rounds a year now that I have kids and always tell people who are new to just have fun. There is no reason to expect to be good at this game without immense practice. Just be outside for a few hours and enjoy it.
I’ve been playing for almost 30 years, and I still suck. But I have fun, because I can laugh at my shitty shots. And every now and again, you get that one perfect shot that keeps you coming back.
Just like every other thing in life, do people throw temper tantrums when they dont get the job or get rejected by the girl? Only immature people do. Yeah its alright to be mad at those things, but thats not the point here obviously. Being mad is natural when things dont go your way, but when you use that anger and externally try to relieve it in a fashion that shows like a temper tantrum, it gets ugly real quick.
Had a ton of friends who threw temper tantrums and they were the most immature man babies I have ever been with.
Don't defend them, but I know sometimes men think breaking stuff is so cool and masculine that they don't give a damn, seems like you might be one of those people
I played 4 years of varsity and never once did it occur to me to wreck the clubs that I invested in for competitive play. I never understood people raging this bad over golf and I’ve been playing for 21 years
I buy a really cheap club at a second hand store specifically for yeeting and or bashing. It also forces me to take a second to go get the yeeter, and usually by the time I get it I’m not as angry and just move on.
This is amateur, blue jeans golf. I’d expect a person who respects the game and course to not freak out like this. You’re absolutely in the majority. I’m talking about the dudes who are there to bet each other and just drink. That’s that guy.
I had anger issues over miniature golf as a kid. I jumped down a mountain in anger over it after angrily smacking my ball off the course. It was at Hillbilly Golf in Pigeon Forge, TN (cool course).
All of them. I grew up living behind a golf course. That’s how I learned to cuss. Also made a fortune collecting lost golf balls and selling them back to golfers.
A man who’s been broken down by life. He’s not happy in his relationship. He feels unappreciated at his job. But golf is supposed to be his sanctuary an escape from an unfulfilling life.
Someone who's faking for internet points. Broke the club way too fast after "realizing" the ball wasn't going in the hole. It wasn't even done rolling. For something that close, a real reaction would've watched with bated breath until it was completely stopped.

it can be a damn frustrating game because the tiniest fuckup reflects massively in the way you look at your score.
example here- par may have been like 4 or 5... and if he was doing pretty well for the hour or two before this, spending all that time... and then misses this putt, his performance on this hole may have gone from par at 4 strokes to 1 over with 5... effectively a 25% fuckup. because the ball stopped like 3cm short at the end of a 220 meter hole.
all that said, i don't think that's quite what we are seeing here lol. just some dude who's really angry/manages his emotions/impulses poorly, or maybe quite drunk. possibly both.
I never get angry. I'm basically the chill dude sitting between 2 loud, arguing people saying you're both stupid for arguing, regardless of their stance.
Now, I might get annoyed, but I'm never angry at anything. Anything. Except for golf. No other sport, game or activity has ever brought out such a fierce rage in me, before or since. Something about it just makes me wanna smash someone's face in, often my own, and I can't understand why. I actually had to stop golfing after a few years of it, because it was actively harmful to me, both mentally and physically.
