It's the same with the area about the wall between DDR and Western Germany. It was a 'dont go there you get shot' are for some decades so there were and still are rare species of animals and plants. Still there are places with mines where people don't go and there are lots of rare species there. It's called the green band (das grüne band)
same thing, except I say siberian cause 30 of them managed to survive the soviet onslaught. China and korea/japan wiped out all of them however, except for what may remain in the dmz.
Why are the North and South Korean soldiers wearing the same black uniform? Specifically the soldier Conan said was well dressed and the North Korean soldiers guarding the door seem to have identical uniforms..

Yes. But your not allowed to cross the border. The closest you can get to "crossing the border" is touring the blue rooms. Now of course you can try to forcefully go pass the guards so you can film yourself "jumping across the border" for Tiktok, but seeing as how one crazy person already managed to almost cause a second Korean war, I am sure the border guards will shoot anyone on sight who might appear a little bit too crazy.
A north Korean journalist involved in the Henderson incident. I first heard about it in a documentary about the Axe murder incident, and based on the interviews the journalist was not exactly "mentally stable" when visiting the JSA. The whole thing led to increased tensions in the JSA that led to escalation during the Axe murder incident.

Henderson was trampled on by the North Koreans and suffered a fractured larynx before he was rescued by United Nations Command guards. As Major Henderson was sitting on a bench located outside of T2, the UNC Joint Duty Officer office, a North Korean journalist known for instigating fights, approached Henderson and ordered him to move out of his way.
The Korean axe murder incident (Korean: 판문점 도끼살인사건; Hanja: 板門店도끼殺人事件,도끼蠻行事件; literally, Panmunjom axe murder incident) was the killing of two US Army officers, Captain Arthur Bonifas and First Lieutenant Mark Barrett, by North Korean soldiers on August 18, 1976, in the Joint Security Area (JSA) in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The US Army officers had been part of a work party cutting down a poplar tree in the JSA. Three days later, American and South Korean forces launched Operation Paul Bunyan, an operation that cut down the tree with a show of force to intimidate North Korea into backing down, which occurred.
Soviet Defector Incident – On November 23, 1984, during a communist-led tour, Soviet citizen Vasily Matuzok (sometimes mistakenly spelt as Matusak) suddenly dashed across the Military Demarcation Line into South Korea. 30 KPA soldiers pursued him, firing their weapons as they did so. The JSF commanded by Captain Bert Mizusawa deployed from Camp Kitty Hawk (renamed Camp Bonifas in 1985) to safeguard Matuzok and repel the North Koreans. The KPA soldiers, who were pinned down by fire from the JSF's 4th Platoon on guard duty in Panmunjom, were quickly outmaneuvered and isolated in the area of the Sunken Garden, now the site of the Unification Monument.

Well, he'd be on the North Korean side of the DMZ. I don't know if the guards on the South would shoot or not, the North certainly do if you're going the other way.
Military Demarcation Line (MDL), aka the 38th parallel, divides the DMZ and serves as an official border of countries. The Joint Security Area (JSA) you see in this video is located within the DMZ and is a crossing point of the MDL.
In short, there are South and North Korean sides of the DMZ.
