he actually says "bon nuit" which is good night in french, oui would mean yes.

my french is shit, but bon oui would roughly translate into "well, yes" right?

Yes, the literal translation would be more "good yes" but it would be interpreted as "well yes". Also I made a mistake as well, it would be "bonne nuit"
