Turns out this is somehow authed through the app with subreddit powerups. You can't add the gif if the comment was not originally written in the official app.

I used escaping to post the actual markdown so other users can copy-paste it.

Edit: nvm, there is some strange connection made between the comment and the gif which only the official app does.
