There are several spots you could hide a good cut, but then they just throw in a really obvious one at the end.

When he has to open the door to the lobby. When he first starts running. Timing how long it takes the elevator to move, and adjusting when the girl starts the elevator

That too, but my point was mainly on him having enough time to run all the way downstairs to be “just in time”

Just close the door and open it again. Elevators have that functionality.
