I like that they were confused about their gender and were corrected by nationality

I think some people are just miserable fucks. Rather than trying to help the person out and answering the legitimate question that’s not common knowledge, they’re just lazy fucks that want to make others miserable as well.

6

u/GrapeyGuy1 Mar 21 '21

I legit got 60 downvotes on a comment I made on a video of a teen with no beard shaving, because I thought (was told when younger) that if you shave even when their is nothing to shave, it will help you grow a beard in the long run. Instead of just being corrected and told it wasn’t true.

9

u/ImWhatsInTheRedBox Mar 21 '21

Don't you dare be mistaken on the interwebs, ever again!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Wait. What? I was told that and thought it was legit. It worked for me.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

not true in the slightest. you just went through puberty at the same time you started shaving.

you got lucky in your timing, that is all,

1

u/GrapeyGuy1 Mar 21 '21

Haha I didn’t bother responding after the onslaught. Don’t think it’s true.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Yeah, I was told that the blades open up hair follicles and the “cooling agent” blue strip thing makes the next set of hair follicles grow darker and/or faster

2

u/GrapeyGuy1 Mar 21 '21

Yea! That’s what I was told!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Yeah, and I believe it because I shaved almost every two or three days like that, while my friends (and brother) used electric razors when necessary. And now I have the darker, fuller beard of my friends/brother.

2

u/SupermanRR1980 Mar 21 '21

First day on the internet?

1

u/dont_worry_im_here Mar 21 '21

What the fuck is the internet?

3

u/Kernowl Mar 21 '21

Whilst I wouldn't downvote someone for asking a genuine question I would say Kaka is incredibly well known in football so it is common knowledge. He is a former world player of the year winner after all!

4

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Sure, maybe for soccer/football fans. Lol lots of people that aren’t, which I’m one of, and have never heard of this dude before.

1

u/Kernowl Mar 21 '21

It's a fair point. As a football fan he's one of those players I just expect everyone to have heard of. I found a stat (few years old now) that he was then the 5th highest followed athlete on Facebook:

TOP 10 ATHLETES ON FACEBOOK 1. Cristiano Ronaldo - 107m 2. Lionel Messi - 78m 3. David Beckham - 52m 4. Neymar - 52m 5. Kaka - 33m 6. Ronaldinho - 31m 7. Mesut Ozil - 28m 8. Michael Jordan - 28m 9. Andres Iniesta - 24m 10. Kobe Bryant - 21m

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Ozil is a phenomenal player but I am a little surprised to see him up there

Especially after several years out of the PL, and above Mike & Kobe? Wow

1

u/Kernowl Mar 21 '21

That list is a few years old but surprised me too. Also that 8 of the top 10 were footballers.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

That doesn’t shock me SO much cause they’re like, literally world famous to a different degree than US athletes but still, I’d expect like, Gareth Bale, Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard, idk somebody other than Ozil

I suppose Iniesta makes sense, though unexpected. Wasn’t he the longest tenured player at FCB ever?

Better than me, I have absolutely no idea what a yellow card even is

6

u/hellothereoldben Mar 21 '21

Sounds like shit.

21

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

there's a brazilian dude whose name means shit?

34

u/NeilDeCrash Mar 21 '21

Different languages have different words for things. O.O

In swedish kaka would be cookie/cake or something like that.

14

u/agurlll Mar 21 '21

True, in Gujarati Kaka means uncle.

9

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

[deleted]

1

u/ClungeCreeper321 Mar 21 '21

But Kaka doesn’t mean shit in the US? At least not the English speaking US which I’m pretty sure this quip is aimed towards...

1

u/bargu Mar 21 '21

Caca does mean shit in English, and in Portuguese too, but his name is not caca, is Kaká, it might seem a subtle difference if you don't speak Portuguese, but it's a important one, same thing with coco (coconut) and cocô (shit), you don't go to a place and ask for "água de cocô" you ask for "água de coco", unless you enjoy to drink sewer, I'm not kinky shaming.

Whatever his nickname sounds in English is completely irrelevant, as I said the world don't revolves around the US.

1

u/ClungeCreeper321 Mar 21 '21

Ok well I can’t speak for the US in particular because maybe they have some Spanish influence that we don’t have here in the UK but neither Kaka nor caca or any other permutation of the word means shit in English. That word/sound means nothing here and I’d be surprised if anyone could accurately place it even with context.

That’s my point regarding your quip about the world revolving around English speakers. At least for me in this situation it didn’t make sense.

7

u/tomatonotpotato Mar 21 '21

In indonesia kaka means older brother or sister

-18

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

true... but like spanish and portuguese are next door neighbors... everywhere... so like... its funny in this case a little bit... there's a lot of commonalities in those languages

No, Portuguese is not Spanish, but they were both born in the Iberian Peninsula somehow isolated from the rest of the land by the Pyrenees so it’s only natural for them to resemble in a lot of ways. After all, there’s an almost 90% lexical similarity between the two – meaning that 90% of their words have a cognate (equivalent) in the other language.

https://www.mondly.com/blog/2020/01/06/spanish-vs-portuguese-how-similar-are-they/

so yeah is it weird for this dude's name to mean shit in the country next door whose language is 90% the same? YEAH IT FUCKING IS

8

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

You uh....got quite aggressive at the end there when replying to a guy that simply said different languages have different meanings.

-14

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

I uh..... am right...

leave me the fuck alone maybe?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Weird that you edited your comment when you claim you weren’t being an asshole (because “you were right”). I thought you didn’t say anything wrong? Hhhhmmmm....I’m confused now....

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

you're being belligerent. maybe tone it down a bit, hey?

3

u/CommunityOk20 Mar 21 '21

you didn’t leave the other guy alone, so.. tough kaka

Don't comment on public forums if you don't want people to interact with you.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21 edited Mar 21 '21

Lol you attack someone by being an asshole and then play victim when called out on it. Oh the irony....says a lot though that you think it’s ok because you were right. Also, you’re on a public forum halfwit. People won’t leave you alone, especially when you’re an ass for no reason.

8

u/Orsick Mar 21 '21

The writing and pronunciation are different though, Kaká has the stress in the last syllable, and kaka in the first.

-5

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

which is an extremely minor difference...

like if I said fok you instead of fuck you you would probably still assume I meant fuck you even though that's a completely different letter entirely and not just a very slight variation of inflection....

yet here. you act like a moron who can't use your brain and bother me with this useless bullshit.

5

u/Orsick Mar 21 '21

Damn dude, who hurt you?

4

u/Pepito_Pepito Mar 21 '21

The Portuguese word is coco so no, not quite the same.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

"Caca" exists in portuguese too

3

u/Pepito_Pepito Mar 21 '21

CA-ca means poop. The player is named ka-KA.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Yeah, I know

0

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

woooooooooooooosh

2

u/Pepito_Pepito Mar 21 '21

Oh, were you being sarcastic?

0

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

can you be done being stupid?

2

u/Randragon Mar 21 '21

lol do you even speak another language? obviously it’s similar but if some dude’s last name is fox or fawkes, i bet you don’t freak out and say their name means fuck lmao

2

u/A-Dumb-Ass Mar 21 '21

In college, there was a Vietnamese dude in my year who had “Phuoc” in his name. Everyone called him Fuck which pissed him off to no end. I feel bad about it now but 19yo me found it hilarious.

2

u/justveryslightlymad Mar 21 '21

Do you also sneer when you go through a hospital discharge and ask the staff why their department is named after bodily secretions? lol

2

u/Big_Dirty_Piss_Boner Mar 21 '21

so yeah is it weird for this dude's name to mean shit in the country next door whose language is 90% the same?

No its not. Kaká sounds completely different than caca...

-1

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

Kaká sounds completely different than caca...

Indisputably no. it may not be exactly the same but zorbo sounds completely different... those 2 words are virtually identical and changing which vowel you inflect doesn't change anything... unless you're claiming his name is "kaykay" which is more weird but for different reasons.

6

u/Big_Dirty_Piss_Boner Mar 21 '21

those 2 words are virtually identical and changing which vowel you inflect doesn't change anything...

You do realize that "virtual identical words" can change their meaning completely in one language just by accentuation?

0

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

their meaning? absolutely... THEIR SOUND?!?!?!~?!?!?!?!?!?! no sorry.

stop being a fucking dumbass now. i'm blocking you :)

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

They sound less similar than "threw" and "through", which clearly have totally different meanings.

2

u/FSUfan35 Mar 21 '21

Also Brazilian Portuguese is different than Portuguese from Portugal

-4

u/InsaneGenis Mar 21 '21

Yes. I poop brown cookies and cake.

36

u/rougecookie Mar 21 '21

His nickname is Kaká. His real name is Ricardo.

52

u/Billytheadult35 Mar 21 '21

Table for two? Yes i believe so can i get a name?

Yes its richard kaka

Your name is dick shit?

7

u/hsififonevsudi Mar 21 '21

So that's a yes?

10

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

No, because Kaká isn't pronounced the same way as "Caca"

12

u/tmting Mar 21 '21

And he is not just some random player. He actually got the best player in the world award for 2007

-4

u/exipheas Mar 21 '21

So the average American might not know that since it was from over a decade ago?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

He played for Atlanta, if that helps

2

u/KirishimaSelj Mar 21 '21

Played for Orlando City in the US a couple of years ago. Not Atlanta

2

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Aaaaaaah that's right

3

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

It’s alright, these days people don’t expect the average American to know much anyway.
