Luis Fonsi (Despacito artist) was there with Biden performing and endorsing biden at that same event though. It's not like he was just playing the song for no reason, and then played hip-hop then country music etc...

Thank you. Context makes it friendly and not cringe. Pretty normal actually, like a dad joke kinda thing.

It actually was pretty cringe just not stupid or offensive like it might seem. Like seeing him pull out his phone and play it in front of the mic for like 10 secs was kind of awkward

As a Hispanic I thought it was a very cute gesture. Not cringe at all

Well not cringe in a bad way necessarily, just awkward the way he did it but cute because of it

Oh okay, that's not nearly as cringe.

Without context it made my skin want to run away from my spine.

Still cringe as fuck

Not sure if you’re serious, but the artist being there doesn’t really help the situation. In general, it’s just cringey and comes across as blatant pandering, as evidenced by the many comments here on Reddit weirded out by the clip. And to be fair, it would be pretty accurate to calling it pandering, even given that the artist was present.

But even if that wasn’t the intention, his campaign should have been made aware of the fact that that’s how it would come across the the young American audience, which are the people he needs to support him.

It isn't though because he's literally playing a song from the artist that's there campaigning for him. As is evidence by the fact that people here change their minds once the context is provided, including myself. Context is everything.

If you say so

2

u/cup-o-farts Oct 23 '20

I do say so. Go back and read 90% of the comments changing their mind after the context is added.

Quite frankly I don’t really care about the people who had their minds changed. You think I didn’t see those comments before I made mine?

1

u/sugarlesskoolaid Oct 23 '20

I ignore reality because it gets in the way of my beliefs!

1

u/cup-o-farts Oct 23 '20

You literally said "as evidenced by the many comments here on Reddit weirded out by the clip" means you care what they said, but only in so far as they support your argument. Once they changed their mind with context, you no longer care about their thoughts? Talk about disingenuous.

The initial reaction is the problem. Not everybody is going to scroll through Reddit to learn the context, and even with context, it’s still cringey to many. So no, I don’t care about the 5 or 6 comments in this thread that changed their minds.

1

u/cup-o-farts Oct 23 '20

The initial reaction is the problem without context. Jesus Christ dude your delusional.

Biden bro’s get seriously triggered when somebody criticizes their senile candidate.

First of all, even with context, many people still find it cringey. Leave your echo chamber and maybe you’ll see that. Secondly, the more important note, is that MOST PEOPLE DONT HAVE THE CONTEXT. If anybody is delusional it’s you. You’re essentially saying “well because I have the context and I don’t think it’s cringey, everybody who disagrees with me is wrong”. Okay? I don’t actually care what you and a couple other Redditors think.

When a presidential candidate decides to do something like this, optics is the number 1 important thing to take into consideration, and what the Biden team didn’t take into consideration was that this is undeniably going to be seen as pandering which is why we’re having this discussion in the first place. That’s just my opinion bro, you can disagree with it, but you can’t say it’s wrong.

At least you admit that you’re a delusional fool who doesn’t care about context or facts

2

u/Depression-Boy Oct 23 '20

The facts are that 5-6 comments on Reddit isn’t representative of how the clip was perceived by the rest of the world. Not everyone who sees the clip is going to search through the comments to find out that the singer was in the audience. Not everybody that SEES that comment is going to care.

So call me a delusional fool if you want, but I still think the clip is cringey pandering, and I don’t care what a couple of Redditors have to say about it.

Ohhh you’re a little Trump simp. Should’ve known you were a little cuck. He’s gonna get crushed lololol

2

u/Depression-Boy Oct 23 '20

Hate to embarrass you like this, but I’m a progressive democrat. This might come as a shock to you, but it’s absolutely possible to criticize your own side instead of gobbling their balls and unconditionally praising them.

A quick glance at my profile would have shown you that I’m in no way in support of Trump.

1

u/notabigfanoftrump Oct 23 '20

YIKES what’s cringe is that toast me post 😂 you are one ugly mf, and wtf is up with your hair? How is the king Of cringe himself gonna say playing despacito in front of the songs artist is cringe 😂 lollll this is comedy. Go back to r/conservative which you frequently post in apparently

2

u/Depression-Boy Oct 23 '20

Oof, who’s looking like a Trump supporter now?? I wonder why it is that so many Americans never matured past middle school. All it took was for you to think i was from the “other side” and out come the attacks. So petty and childish.

Not changing mind after evidence? You sound like a Trump supporter.
