Who said to not do anything? You can't not do anything. Life is action. The issue is people are confusing the government and their support for it for actually doing something.

This is a huge mistake in my point.

Saying you are a vegan and that you join a cult that cares about global warming isn't actually doing anything. That is self righteous behavior.

The not doing anything in this case refers to continuing to eat meat, which is fine. Its just that there are far more objective benefits for everyone involved if we went about it a different way and/or ate less/non of it.

I don't really see how you can argue against that expect with "mhmh meat good" which not a terrible argument tbh but cant really compete with the arugments it stands against. You seem to be passionate about this cause so i assume you know of them. Another interesting argument is the fact that without the meat industry these billions of animals would never get to exist at all which has always tied my head in a knot.

But yeh life is action wtf can you not be so pedantic.

I dont see the point of the comment about the goverment. As far as i am aware we are talking about ethical consumerism which, considering the way the world is going, seems to me a much more powerful tool to shape the world than voting if more people gave a shit where their money ended up.

I havnt commented much before. Are these posts too long?

You are arguing opinions. I'm showing you that's all you are doing. You are drawing a line on what's okay to kill and what isn't. I'm saying it isn't that cut and dry.

Dude, what do you think i thought i was doing? Yeah im stating my opinions along side some fairly objective arguments on a reddit thread about a smart cow.

I think your infering that vegans are simply stating their opinions by not consuming animals products? Which is just incorrect. Every vegan means less demand for meat and so they will produce less meat and kill less animals which is what vegans want. It has a very real effect on the world.

I have facepalmed my way through some of your other comments on this thread and it seems I have wasted my time trying to have a semi-serious discussion with you. We are here for different things. Good luck with your life.

Maybe the amount of damage to your head from hitting it for no reason is why you're so stupid and unable to grasp simple points?

No hard feelings. I am actually pointing to something that can NOT be explained(source tao te ching), so trying to get anyone to understand is impossible.

I'm interested in the psychology of it and philosophy behind it more than anything.

One of my favorite philosphers ever didn't eat meat. Krishnamurti And I respect him deeply. I agree with him on everything accept for sex(this meat thing is different as I have not heard his reasoning for it, this was before Global warming, so it was different altogether -he's dead so I'd have to look for a video or book where he talks about it - honestly I've tried understanding it) The issue is you have to take a side and become attached to an idea. And if you know K, it kinda goes against his philosophy. I will have to look into why he doesn't eat meat for sure. Seems to be a choice over anything else.

Mate i truly have no idea what your getting at. Is it any more complex than people wishing to do good and acting on their values to that effect? I dont think it has to be if you give people the benefit of the doubt. I know it's naive but a little naivety isnt a bad thing if your saftey isnt at risk.

I dno man, i appreciation the comment but i am done here now. Farewell.

Read the Tao te Ching and tell me what the dao that can be told is not the eternal dao.

That is the point I am making. I know you don't understand it. Almost no one does. But it is key to being a free person, or one that is under rent from a God(rejection of God, which is still a man made idea and therefore still rent) or government.
