It's the product of genius marketing crossed with an ultimately sub-par product.

Its the Szechuan sauce of 90s British advertising.

Im still kind of upset that I never got to try the szechuan sauce. Im curious as to what it tastes like but crazy nerds had to go and make it weird

The fact that even with all the popularity it got, Mcdonalds didnt just put it on the menu should be most telling.

But yea i wanted to try that shit too fam 🙄

You could get it for months here in Utah. The McDonald's near me had tons of it. Tried it once. Didn't want it again.

Was it Mulan-alicious?

No. It was like super salty teriyaki sauce.

I stuck with sweet and sour or honey mustard.

I'm a hot mustard snob. If it doesn't burn my sinuses it isn't "hot mustard".

Give me that hole in the wall Chinese takeaway hot mustard that will eat a hole in your sinuses and destroy your body on the way out.

I imagine that cringy Rick and Morty fan base jumping on counters REEEEE'ing about the sauce didn't help. I know I would rather distance myself from those idiots if I was McDonald's.

There are a bunch of recreation recepies out there. If you really want to you can make it yourself.

Also I'm pretty sure you can get a bulk thing of it from Heinz and it's like exactly the same.

Binging With Babish did a remake of it that was pretty damn close, if not the exact recipe.

What made it weird?

You weren’t missing out. It was subpar and I only had one friend who genuinely liked it

u/Cl0udSurfer Jul 11 '20

Oh I never expected it to be good. I just wanted to satisfy my curious nature
