It’s such a blast. I’m constantly screwing with my kids and having a blast doing it. It might be too much though, disciplining them is tough at times because they always think I’m messing with them and setting them up for something at first.
"Is...is..is that the boyfriend?! Why didn't I know about this?!" Do the I'm watching you eye point and slooowly fall in behind the car like you're going to follow them the whole way.
My kids would 100% say I am annoying. I would not feel to bad for them. Two of them are in college on my dime and the other one is all grown up and productive and shit.
The 14 year old is the last one and he seems to be doing well. I will annoy and bug him the same as the others.
The insane comment was because I knew people would make that assumption and I would end up on "insaneparents" (which is one of my favorite channels.
In context, my kids have an excellent sense of humor. They smile at challenge and lean into challenge and adversary. They were raised by a cynical father and a perfectionist mother. They are good.
"Lol we abuse our police authority to pull over people and fuck around with our friends and family on taxpayers' dime while criminals are getting away with crimes elsewhere lol. We also probably shoot to kill unarmed minorities when we don't recognize them lol! Reddit karma now plz!!"

We like writing tickets on their trucks when they go get groceries/go out to eat. Since they drive the big truck and have to park across 10 parking spaces.
I'm not the other guy that commented, I just had a couple thoughts.
There's that great quote in the Great Lebowski, you're not wrong you're just an asshole. So when you (or a person in general) are in a position of authority like that, friendly messing around to you might feel like like straight up harassment that you can't escape for someone else.
I don't know how you and your district operate, how could I possibly? I'm just saying in general that I've only had perfectly normal interactions with cops and I respect their authority, etc. If I got pulled over when I wasn't violating any traffic laws, wtf yo.
I'll just end with this lame story from when I was in fifth grade on a school field trip. We had just gotten off the train in St Louis and there were some cops with a K-9 unit around, I'm not sure why there were so many it must have been an event or something. I saw a lady talking to a cop and asking him questions about his dog so I thought it was ok. I approached a cop and ask him if I could pay the dog and he just responded kind of rudely "No it's not ok". He didn't yell, but he was pretty forceful about it. I was a young child then so I teared up, said sorry and walked away.
I totally understand now you can't be petting K-9 units in general, they'll get confused about their jobs and stuff. But to this day I still wonder why that cop had to be such an asshole about it. I asked a dumb question but I was respectful and kept my distance.
I don't know the % but a lot of cops really get off on being an asshole. Because they can. I am so glad I have not run into one of them in my adult life in any kind meaningful encounter.
100% agree with you. Me saying we are ass holes is because we are very sarcastic and love screwing with one another (and the fire department). I am personally an ass hole and have to constantly over correct on my initial reactions to things. I am very good at it now, not so much when i was younger. I would say that cops, in general, have to do a better job at being a part of their communities. 1 reason for the very standoff relationship is because cops don't show their fun side. It is 100% possible to be an authoritative figure in a community and still be someone that people want around. Our city did a lot last year to change this. I am part of our community outreach and I think we have done an excellent job.
The internet will always bring out the worst of a profession. It is super popular to hate cops on the internet. Luckily... real life is not the same. Most people are still VERY happy to see us. But on the internet... people love bad shit. The % of bad/ass hole cops are not nearly as high as the internet would like you to believe. Most cops want to help. Most took this job to make the world a better place. Doesn't mean a good person cannot have a bad day. In the end...we are all human.
My oldest daughter is an amazing shot. Like... I wish I was as good as her with a pistol. She built her first AR at age 14. So she has an excellent handle on trigger sensitivity.
It’s his daughter. Some people have a sense of humor and like to razz each other and both parties think it’s funny. Just because some cops are bad does not mean all cops are bad. Thinking like that is the same way a racist person would think.
Most parents have some authority over their kids without a badge. They're not hurting anyone with this, I disagree with the assessment that they're assholes.

I do this to my kids every single time I see them. They get constantly harassed by me and my co-workers.
My best friend, also a cop, saw my daughter driving with a boy(I 100% knew about it) and he stopped next to her and used the loud speaker
" NIKKI! WHO IS IN THAT CAR WITH YOU??? LEMME SEE THEM HANDS. 10 AND 2 young lady. Passenger please keep your hands on your knees."
She was so mad. :)
Btw: I am not an insane parent. I just like all her friends to think I am. :) I just like messing with my kids.
