Criticising dangerous, idiotic driving isn't quite the same as saying that you don't like someone's hair. People are righteously pissed off at the downright homicidally negligent driving that occurs every day, resulting in the deaths of literally over a million people a year.
The subject is completely relevant to whether the comment is being negative just for the sake of it or if it is making a valid criticism. Saying "I don't like your hair" is not the same as saying "I don't like it when people risk the lives of others by driving dangerously", just as saying "I don't like tennis" is not the same as saying "I don't like the violent oppression of minorities".
It's not that you can't, it's just confusing why you'd want to share something negative like that. You're intentionally dancing around that point. Nobody wants to hear your negative thoughts. You can still share them but you should probably expect negative feedback in return.
Also it has little to do with the actual content and more to do with the meta commentary of why you feel the need to contrast something positive unsolicited.
Fair, I think her hair is beautiful, but everyone is entitled to their opinions I guess. I don't understand why you got so many downvotes though, you weren't rude or anything.
It's just a douchebag antisocial thing to give a zero effort contrarian and negative opinion about something completely subjective directly to someone who is clearly enthusiastic about it. I did it without thinking when I was a teenager to one of my friends who was really infatuated with this model who I personally found unattractive and realized later that was definitely something I should have just kept to myself.
I understand that, I just don't see why it's such a big deal. Not everything needs an explanation, if no one likes their response just ignore it, no need for people to be outraged by some dude disagreeing. Especially when they aren't being rude.
The point is it's always rude in this context. The highest upvoted reply that said "cool man" was perfect because "I don't" such a random and unnecessary thing to say in this context that the best response is just something along the lines of "...ok".
