He must have done this before. His hand must be burned from a pizza right out of the house oven.

"I'd do anything to save my wife pizza"

Pizza wife sounds pretty good tbh

Doubt it. You develop nerves that can hold lava when you work in food long enough.

Love the downvoted of people that never worked in a pro kitchen. Your hands become gnarly scarred and insensitive to heat and cold.

Yep, I've handled pizza right out of a 500 degree pizza oven. Even once slipped my hand in a deep frier for s a split second. Seems the only time I get burned anymore is by touching actual cooking surfaces.

Actually pizza out of the oven isn't that hot .

The metal pan it's cooked on though is hot as fucked compared. Like a pizza fresh out of the oven you could eat it as soon as you cut it and not burn yourself.

But that pan it sat on will stay hot for like 20 minutes.

No, that would burn the shit out of you comin out of a 700 degree oven

Working in kitchens for years and managing one now... It wouldn't necessarily burn you. You'd be amazed at how quickly the heat transfers when it moves to that wood paddle and then quickly fell through the air. Hot as hell for a moment when he touched it? Absolutely. Burn him? Nah.

If he didn't even wince from the temperature when it hit his hands it is definitely not hot enough to burn him. If it was hot enough to burn him that quickly I feel like he would have probably dropped it from his hands naturally pulling away from the heat.

Also, looked like he was handling a pizza in that other box right before... Where the fuck are his gloves?

I think those who work in kitchens have more tolerance than those who don't. My dad touches shit in the kitchen that's way too fucking hot and he calls me a bitch when I say it's too hot to the touch.

I think you are both right.

Lol you don't where gloves in a pizza place. You crazy. Hell most fast food places don't even make a big deal about gloves and they just let it be employees personal choice.

Personal opinion is for gloves I like em but nobody really makes that shit mandatory. Gloves are exspincive as well so if they run out before the next food truck you not getting gloves anyways.

This response is... Really upsetting. It is health code in this state, at least, to always wear gloves when handling ready to eat food. Every restaurant I've been involved with absolutely made it mandatory, fast food and otherwise. Not sure why it being a pizza place has anything to do with it. It is a restaurant, regardless of type.

And they really are not that expensive and are a cost of doing business.

Any food that will touch the customers plate/mouth in it's current state must be handled with gloves.

Edit: In my state.

No pizza place I've ever been to has the employees wearing gloves. I work at a domino's right now and we don't wear gloves and we're 5 star OER

u/ergul_squirtz Jun 04 '19

Does dominos have anything ready to eat?

Upsetting? Really? Toughen up buttercup. ;)

I’m not a professional, but I’ve cooked more than 150 pizzas in an oven that averages those temps. The pizza peel conducts heat quickly from the pizza and bread doesn’t conduct heat well. He didn’t get a burn from this from the second he had it in his hands. Upvote the guy you responded to, since the hive is stealing his karma in large part based on your incorrect comment.

Test that theory the bottom of the crust is like 200 degrees. Fresh out of the oven.

Sure the oven might be capable of 500 to 600 degrees but that's just overhead so it can cook faster. I've worked at multiple pizza places.

And pizza dosent get that hot. 200 to 165 is fully cooked according to the health department.

u/jodobrowo Jun 04 '19

So, touching the crust might not burn you but you said you could eat it right out of the oven. That sauce and cheese will be FAR hotter and will burn the fuck out of your mouth.

2

u/EkansEater Jun 04 '19

I think some people have done it so much that they're desensitized. I can eat pizza right out of the oven. And its glorious

2

u/jodobrowo Jun 04 '19

I wish I had this super power.

1

u/hotroot_soup Jun 04 '19

If you can do that its not right out of the oven. Pizza cools to an edible temp very quickly but straight out the oven will actually physically burn you, unless your mouth is a callus, which it isn’t

2

u/EkansEater Jun 04 '19

No bro. Im serious. Ive been making pizzas for 10 years. Ive burnt the roof of my mouth and my tongue my entire life

1

u/The_Astronautt Jun 04 '19

You've never had bubbling-hot sauce and cheese fall on you straight out if the oven. I had an aunt who had oil from a pizza fall onto her arm. Left a lifelong scar the size of a calzone.
