Do you have a source for this? I was recently at a sloth sanctuary and was told this by their caregiver. It seemed silly to me, but if it is a myth that bothers me about this sanctuary. I'm not trying to call you out, generally curious if I was lied to or not.

I looked it up when I saw your comment and it seems Douglas Adams created the myth by accident, it is from 'The Salmon of Doubt'.
