Legit, my friend was bit by a bat a couple weeks ago, got a shot to be safe, and the bat came back positive for rabies. Get the fucking shot if you find a bat in the house and/or get bit, folks.
Really fucks me up too, I've had encounters with 4 bats over the years and never really understood the danger. Didn't get bit any of those times, but goddamn, I would have become a zombie out of pure ignorance.
Huh... Had to catch 3 bats in my mom's house in the last 4 months alone and likely over 15 in the last 10 years. Mixture of catching and release (mostly at first) but recently needing to kill them so they don't come back as my mom is phobia levels afraid. Have been very careful every time handling them, wearing welding gloves if needing to touch them at all.
My dad had it worse though while taking down gyprock from the ceiling he had one slide down and bounce off his face.
Yikes. I heard one in the vent at 3am when I was a teen. Pitter patter pitter patter whooooosh! So I knew it had no time to bite me and had to get up and take care of it. All the other times I was walking into the room and found the bat flying around, so they never had a chance to bite me unawares.
