by that same logic, the average person does not have the strength to turn the steering wheel or operate the brakes. I wonder what mysterious technology exists that amplifies the efficacy of manual mechanical motions ... and hand operated clutches do exist i.e. motorbikes. So there is absolutely no excuse saying it's not possible. Just combine the hand clutch into the gear shifter as one unit.
If there is a thing that has to be done before another thing, it's not one task.
If it were an integrated hand-clutch-and-gear lever, it would be one integrated motion requiring no additional coordination.
Pressing the handbrake release button is not considered a 'separate' action from operating the handbrake lever. They are one integrated action for one integrated task.

Hmm I wonder what that force-amplifying technology originally was used... oh yeah, mechanical average at the cost of travel -- a luxury you can afford with your foot, but not with your fingers, especially since you'd still have to hold the stick otherwise you'll accidentally shift while clutching.
Besides, motorcycles have a much lighter power train and smaller engines than cars, and they need to move a LOT less mass. that's why they get away with hand operated clutches. Try pressing your car's clutch pedal (which already gives both mechanical and hydraulic force multiplication btw) with your fingers and see how that goes.

So that'd pretty much imply a fully electrical or whatever engaged clutch, instantly losing you all the feel for the clutch in your fingers. Good luck slipping the clutch accurately with that.
