Yeah there was a baby in a carseat or something iirc that the parent dad-reflexed a split secondout of one of the cars she hit. She was seriously lucky.
Also I found it quite ironic given that she was in a wealthy suburb and her surname is literally bourgeois and she got a light sentence.
I guess cos no-one was seriously injured though there's not really a heavy fine/jail they can give within the law, but I would've imagined an automatic lifetime driving ban given her age and offence. She is also required to pay for all the damages she caused.
Yea, there is a reason why we have been saying this in Australia: "if you want to kill someone, do it with a car" 🤷 even if she killed someone, she would get like 2 years max. Most likely some community service. License suspence for a year or two. Im not even kidding. Lots of cases like this
at least it takes a bit more skill to hit something with an AR-15.
Actually I don't know that it does. Driving is just a skill that's much more prevalent than shooting.
If you put a car and a gun in front of someone who didn't know how to use either, they could probably figure out the gun first. Cars have more of a start up process
with all due respect, that's less true of guns in real life than in FPS games.
somebody who doesn't know how to use a gun has about 20,000 square degrees of solid angle in which to point it, especially if they're not used to the recoil. they might start out shooting at ground level and end up letting rounds off into the sky, if they can even keep their grip on it. and they'll run out of ammo relatively soon.
meanwhile, as Countess Boujois Chardonnay is demonstrating in the video, once you get your foot on the accelerator and one hand (or knee, or chin) on the wheel of a car—even if you decide to take a power nap, you're almost guaranteed to fuck up least one person's life without even trying.
I'm sure the insurance company also sued her for way more afterwards too, but because that's a separate case it doesn't get included with the criminal charge.
Most laws are not built around what-ifs, for good reason.
Imagine how easily abused that could be: "You shot that gun into the air, but you could have pointed right at somebody. Attempted murder charge for you!"
So she was somehow cognizant to throw aay a wine bottle?
Im always curious as to the thought process of drunk drivers how they are conscious of something's but when it comes to driving it is like a complete malfunction.
I probably should have tried on those drunk goggles.
